About this audiobook

The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent.

The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, Godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest, flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain and without want.

And anyone could become a god. Through a process known as the "Shaod",a normal person could go to bed one night and awake the next morning to throw away the shackles of mortality and become a being of incomparable power and grace. With Elantris as their beacon, the light inside all humanity was allowed to shine, elevating it to new heights.

But Elantris fell...ten years ago.

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be a fantastic SF work that is interesting, exciting, and fun. It deserves to stay among the titans of the genre. However, there is one negative review that criticizes the attempt at a 'movie preview' and the fact that it is not written by Brandon Sanderson. Despite this, the overall reception of the book is positive.

The performance is fantastic. This book is in three parts. I’ve only heard the first part. So far interesting, exciting, all of it is fun. I hope it continues

I've loved this book for years and was so excited to see this...and nearly stopped because I thought the recording got screwed up. Turns out it was just an attempt at a "movie preview" of a B- fantasy story that pissed me off from the moment it began because it clearly was not Brandon "the Almighty" Sanderson! If you are going to pull that crap, at least go all the way with the movie schtick with, "The following preview is approved for all audiences..." That's the only reason I can't give it 5 stars.
