- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The book sounds really interesting but I simply can’t get past the narrator. I just can’t do it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Why does the audio keep going out. I’m missing parts of the story. The the audio will go out for 10-30 seconds
Okay so the book was different. It’s very quick paced? I mean feel as if Bree and Nicolas relationship was so weird and fast paced. They only met each other in 3 separate occasions and they’re confessing their love for each other? I feel as if we could’ve gotten more dates between the two, then having more interactions, before they go and confess they’re undying love.
I feel as if the plot was everywhere. I get it, you want a magical world but it’s gotta be some background to explain. Like where tf did the Fountain of Youth come into play? We hear Bree mention it one time, and then no one explanation ever again until she confronts Sheily.
And that’s pissing me off, the entire book says she was “investigating” yet I feel as if there was no freaking investigation! Like damn when the hell did Bree start looking into sheily family for her to put 2 and 2 together? Matter of fact we only seen Sheily in that one scene where she was showing houses and talking about humans not going extinct. If she was going to be the big bad villain who was murdering girls why did she not have more scenes within the book?!?
This is such an interesting book with an interesting world, I would’ve love to somehow hear about the history of how Dominion came into power, when the humans became so low, how witches were decided to be kept as state property, why the trolls get to have so much power, and so much more. Would have loved to see Bree train or learn more about her witch ancestry. And in the story it’s mentioned that people have to be careful on the phone because they’re being monitored and could face punishment if it was discovered they were witches . But Bree and Phylis discussed and mentioned they’re magical powers or connections to magic on at least 2 separate occasions. I thought the first time they made that error we would see Bree get questioned by the Trolls and Dominion group but nothing ever came of it.
Again the book was interesting and okay. But the book could’ve been so much more. Maybe some of the issues I have with this story will be cleared up in book two, but with how the way this story went I’m debating on even listening to it. I’ll probably will, but wow. Rate 4/10
