He also lived in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Houston and San Antonio, Texas, the Philippines Islands, Springfield, Massachusetts and Wiesbaden Air Force Base, Germany, before finally settling in Panama City, Florida, the place he calls his hometown. An avid sports fan, he often envisioned himself as a sportswriter, but never pursued the field. His writing of poetry began in high school after an introduction in English class, however, Alan never shared or kept any of what he wrote, feeling it just wasn't "cool" for a basketball player to be writing romance poetry. As his life progressed, his daughter Whitney began playing basketball, and a website was created for her to enable friends and family to keep up. Alan would write the articles to report on the games, once again realizing how much he loved to write.
Professionally, he has worked in an administrative capacity for the past twenty plus years, once again providing him the opportunity to write for others on a daily basis.
Yet when he began writing again on a personal level, he once again picked up his flair for romance and came back full circle, writing from his heart, those feelings held especially for that someone special.
He has resided in Gastonia, North Carolina since 1982, the father of three daughters, Felicia, Arifah and Whitney. He also has five grandchildren, Tea', Elijah, Quinton, Jordan and Wesley. Still an avid sports fan, particularly baseball and women’s basketball, he also enjoys photography and cooking.view less
