He was a walk-on (a player without a scholarship). He only played 4 weeks before quitting. Many people wondered why he quit, but the lack of having a mentor to help him during this transition left him without guidance. Jarmel didn’t understand you have to crawl before you walk. He didn’t understand the concept of having to pay your dues.
Jarmel left the University of Arkansas and spent 4 years in the United States Air force, earning a honorable discharge. He attended Arkansas State University earning his Bachelor in Mid-Level Education and his Masters in Science Education with an emphasis in Theory and Practice. During his college days, he worked at Families Incorporation as a mentor; he worked at Consolidated Youth Services (Juvenile detention Center) as a Youth Counselor. He has been a school teacher for 5 years. He taught 7th & 8th grade math for 2 years, and has been a math coach for 3 years.
Jarmel does consultant work, professional development, speaking engagements, leadership training, and has a great character education program for students, both male and female. If you would like more information about these programs, visit www.thequote-online.comview less
