When not writing cozy mysteries, Jay teaches and is learning knitting. Jay is currently working on knitting a cape. Capes are cool.

The cold air embraced the sleeping detective like a cuddling blanket. While the electricity was still technically On,
he currently could not afford even the barest wattage. Therefore, as the arctic winds of December blew outside, the HVAC system in the offices of O’Bryon & Associates Investigative Services remained dutifully unpowered. And Dan Landis, the sole proprietor, dozed in a troubled state. His hand twitched, a finger pulling an invisible trigger.
The main office, cozily ensconced on the second floor of the Old Bailey Building, was a mere two blocks down from what was once a thriving middle-class neighborhood, now nearly abandoned. The Old Bailey Building had existed formerly as the Bailey Five and Dime, a catch-all general store that served its constituents well. Unfortunately, James Bailey, who lent his name and money to the building, had been too concerned with some of his customers more than others, and was shot in the midst of making a home delivery to one particularly buxom customer.
It was this tradition which cemented the decision for Margaret Maggie
O’Bryon to set-up shop at the Old Bailey Building. That and the reasonable rental rates. It was the ideal location for a private investigator, particularly one who specialized in infidelity cases. Privacy, unassuming façade, close enough to shops to give a pretense for stopping by. Everything you could want from a discreet investigative service. The now deceased Maggie O’Bryon sat at her work
