Introduction
There are literally dozens of diseases that have arthritis as one of the main symptoms of the disease. However in this book, we focus on one of the most common in aging adults – osteoarthritis.
It is also referred to as degenerative joint disease, wear and tear arthritis, or degenerative arthritis and affects about 27 million adults in the US. It can affect any joint of the body but is more prevalent in the hips, neck, knees, lower back, and the tiny bones of the hands and feet.
