My past was dominated by rural pursuits. Contracting and then farming which included dairy, sheep and beef, and finally deer. Looking for a change, I moved to the city and dabbled in several business ventures. Writing novels was never considered in the early years, although from an early age, I enjoyed reading which led to writing short stories. But only for my own amusement. With more time on my hands, I started reading more. Perhaps I suffered a mid-life crisis, I thought I could write a novel. And I did. Seven times. There is a saying practice makes perfect, that's what I'm striving for. In the meantime, while working towards this goal I am deriving bucket-loads of pleasure from concocting my suspense novels. I try to write something unpredictable, something which leaves the reader thinking I never saw that coming.

INTRODUCTION
We all like to have a little fun, Chantilly Lace was written in response to some friends’ light-hearted comment, ‘Where’s your Fifty Shades of Grey?’ Sorry, this is probably tame in comparison, I’ve never read Fifty Shades, but I’ve heard a lot about it.

Chapter 1
Tap, tap, tap. Silence. Tap, tap, tap. Chris rolled over and buried his head in his pillow. His subconscious registered a noise but he refused to allow it to wake him. His mind had become consumed with images of a demure breathtakingly gorgeous young woman whose only purpose in life seemed to be to satisfy his every whim. She hovered around him, whispering sweet nothings in his ear as she stroked his head. She moved to nibbling his neck, Chris felt the early signs of arousal engulf him.
Tap, tap, tap. That annoying noise again. Chris focused his thoughts on the sweet image in his dream, no damned commotion was going to side-track his pleasure trip. The woman in his head resumed her meanderings over his body. God, she looked like Amanda. Maybe she was, and yet she had a younger fresher look to her. Yes, he’d had this dream before. No, make it this fantasy, many times before, but never with this annoying noise hammering away in the background.
Someone’s at the door, can you get that?
Lance’s voice achieved what Chris had been desperately trying to avoid. His eyes flickered open. Lance shared the house with him, it was a convenient arrangement with Lance working night shifts and sleeping most of the day. It wasn’t that Chris objected to Lance’s company, but the bonus was it left Chris with the house to himself in the evenings to entertain whoever he chose, uninterrupted. Invariably his guests would be feminine.
Chris’s bleary eyes glanced at the bedside clock. Ten past seven. What moron would be knocking at the door at this ungodly hour? He’d never been an early riser, working for himself he could pick his hours. Selling insurance was not about to propel him into the rich list, but it paid the bills. And there were fringe benefits, like the multitude of bored, sometimes frustrated, stay at home mums who often welcomed a friendly face
