About this ebook
The second I saw him, I knew I had to make him fall for me. Unfortunately, in the days that followed, I knew that was much easier said than done.
16 y/o Yvonne loves to collect boys. She's a serial dater who is only out to make it look like she has an enviable social circle while enjoying plenty of free coffee at her favorite cafe. But she always drops them before it gets too serious. During one of her dropping sessions that doesn't go very well, she lays eyes on impossibly hot waiter Tory Lam. Who also happens to be 25 and extremely not interested in dating a high school girl. As she pursues him, despite their age gap, she finds out there's far more to him than meets the eye.
In this new short story by Charisma Toplu, a young girl finds out what it means to live happily without worrying about status or the approval of others.

Wait On Me
Ididn’t expect him to react like that. I lost count of how many boys I’d broken up with in the last few years, but I was quite sure none of them had been downright angry. I was so shocked, I couldn’t do anything when he stood up, bumping the table with some force. He yelled at me, called me a bitch and then lunged forward. I barely had time to react or jerk back, but before he reached me, a hand grabbed the back of his shirt, yanking him in the other direction.

Chris, that was this latest boy’s name, started to protest until he realized that the man holding onto him was an actual adult and not a teenager. He angrily grabbed his backpack and stalked out.
It was my turn to stare at my rescuer. He was tall and slim, with black hair about shoulder length and a little bit wavy at the fringes. His skin was tawny and his eyes were the color of sepia. I realized then that he was a waiter, judging by the black apron over a white collared dress shirt. You alright?
he asked. His voice was low and a little bit raspy. His expression was stern as he looked at me.
I could only nod and breathlessly mumble my thanks. Somehow I expected him to stay and make further conversation with me, but instead, he simply pushed in the chair of the departed boy and moved off. I stayed where I was for several more minutes, drinking my coffee and watching the waiter. Luckily, there weren’t many other people there, but I felt it would be more embarrassing if I slunk out. I wanted to show that I wasn’t that affected, so I continued to sit, ignoring any stares or whispers.
It wasn’t until those several minutes had passed that I realized I
