    EDITOR’S NOTE

Finally someone has written a book that encourages people to be who they are. Growing in Christ brings life-giving message of correction and encouragement to faithful people tyrannized by soul-damaging myths about the principles of God. It delivers a powerful combination of relief for the weary and releases for the restrained.

Bruce has tapped into a much-needed corrective in growing in Christ, shifting us back to life-giving truths that will set leaders free. I’m captivated by his biblical vision of leaders becoming persons God made them to be, learning how to wait patiently for the Lord, and then cooperating with the Spirit’s leading while equipping God’s blessed servants to carry out works of service.

    Growing in Christ

Bible Verses: Luke 4vs4; Joshua 1vs8

Just as a plant that need nourishment to grow to its purpose or a seed to geminate, there are conditions that are supposed to be favorable to do so (geminate), as born again Christians, we need nourishment to grow up in Christ. If we do not have spiritual nourishment, we will remain stagnant in our lives.

Plants need nutrients; even human beings need nutrition to their physical growth, so spiritually we need nutrition too. For a Christian to grow in Christ there is one source of his or her balanced diet, that is the Word of God. Christians must study it, meditate upon it and live according to it. Thus, we then become more like Christ as we behold Him (The Word of God John 1vs1,14;2 Cor 3vs18). Each day, as much as we feed our bodies we need to feed also spiritually. Why do we need to study the word of God? The reason is explained in Joshua 1vs8. All qualities of a good Christian are found in the word for example faith (Romans 10vs17) is based on the word of God, truth also is based on the word of God (John 17vs17).

The study of the word of God should be taken seriously and prayerfully. Inside the words are written, treasure of the Lord’s promises to us, therefore we have sought these as a miner seeking gold or diamonds. When we study and meditate upon it, we shall come to the acquaintance of our true God Jehovah and our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, and what they have done and what they require of us (Psalms 1vs1-3). We have to pray for understanding of the word, written by men moved by the Holy Spirit, thus we need the presence of the Spirit to guide us when reading the word. The Word of God when rightly studied by diligent student, it will bear fruits thus we become the light to the world of darkness.

N.B. To all Christians, studying the word of God is of importance that you may have good diet spiritually. Just as you fight to have good health physically, fight to grow spiritually.

    Bearing Fruits

Bible Verses: John 15vs1-5; Galatians 5vs22

It is a common thing that when we plant a seed it becomes a plant and that plant must produce fruits one day. When the seed is given suitable conditions, it produces a plant admirable. That plant needs a constant care by giving it

nourishment to grow until it bear fruits.

The best nourishment comes from the word of God. The word enables you to abide in Christ and whilst learning more about Him, Christ will abide in you. When you keep on feeding spiritually as you do physically, thus by the word of God, will change you, as you behold Christ (*Corinthians 3vs18*).

Your character starts to change, and it becomes more like Christ. This comes through by the more you read the word of God. Just like a plant you are expected to bear fruits and these fruits you can only bear when you are in Christ. Galatians 5vs22, tells of the fruit that the Christian should bear and can only come forth when we abide in Christ. Therefore, there should be a great and strong relationship of Christian with Christ. The fruit we bear tells us whom we serve, if its Christ we bear the fruit mentioned in Galatians 5vs22, and if not, Christ we bear the opposite of what has been said in Galatians

5vs22. And Christ said we can do nothing if we are not in Him or with Him, thus we can never produce any fruit any fruit mentioned in the book of Galatians.

N.B. To bear fruit you need constant study of the Word of God and have a relationship with Him.

    Evangelism

Bible verses: Matthew 28vs18-20; Matthew 24vs14

As part of growing in Christ, you have to preach or teach others of His goodness in your life. Like a plant, it does not bear fruits for its own nut for others. As for us, we need to grow in Christ and tell others that, these fruits we bear has someone behind them. And that someone is Jesus Christ who came and lived as a human, then died on the cross because of our sins and resurrected that we might have eternal life. The good part of evangelism is that it has an assurance from Christ who is sending us. Christ is saying that before I sent you where you have to go, I have been given power on earth and in heaven.

We must not be afraid of anything but base on Christ’s power, He was given, and we will overcome. It might be difficult that you may want to retire from the evangelism but nevertheless remember the pioneers before us who, despite the circumstances they faced they continued the work. The kingdom of God should be preached to everyone (that which Christ taught His disciples) and the end shall come Matthew 24vs14. Evangelism is one thing that Christians who are growing in Christ should do, because it aids on the spiritual growth. It is a mandate to all of us based on the assurance that Christ will led the way. He says He will be with us till the end which means in all that we will be doing Christ will be with us all the way. Many people have evangelized, and they made known the word of God to us, its our turn to do the same to those who do not know Christ. The world is hungry of the word, feed it. Go ye therefore and teach them that I have commanded you.... Matthew 28vs19,20.

N.B. Evangelism has no qualification keep that in mind and just know that you should be the hands and feet of Christ. A better evangelist is one living the word of God.

    Evangelism 2

Bible verses: Luke 8vs30-40; Matthew 28vs18-19

Many at times you might fear to tell someone about Christ because you might think you are not vast read in the word. It might be that because you are a new creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5 vs 17), and you are still settling in the word of God. There is way that you might still evangelize with, telling people of your testimony.

Just like Legion who had many demons, he was healed by Jesus Christ, and Christ forbids him to come with Him. Christ told the man who was healed of the demons to return to his own house and show how great things God had done unto him. What the man did was amazing; he did not only publish that to his own house but to the entire city- Luke 8vs39, Decapolis- Mark 5vs20. The man went only with the testimony that God had done something great in his life and that he was healed of devils that possessed him. People did marvel because of such Mark 5vs20. With only a testimony, he
