The Many Benefits to Starting a Gratitude Practise
()
About this ebook
We are wired to be negative. Therefore, we have to look for ways to live positively. To do so, we should become increasingly aware and slow down. That way, we can be grateful for what we have as often as possible in order to rewire our brains.
Our culture teaches us to want more all the time. This creates an overall feeling of anxiety and frustration. To overcome those feelings, we have to become countercultural. Its only in this way that we will realize that we have everything we need right in this moment. All we have to do is to live at a slower pace and become aware of how we feel.
We all feel overwhelmed and frustrated from time-to-time. We believe that to overcome the negative feelings of overwhelm we should stop overconsuming. As a matter of fact, overconsuming can make us feel even emptier since things can’t give us long lasting meaning and happiness. However, inspiring people and experiences can make us happier. Further, the more we buy and consume, the emptier we will feel over time and the more money we will spend. This is a recipe for a poor quality of life that is filled with even more frustration.
Gratitude, on the other hand, makes us look at our life differently. Practising gratitude encourages us to turn inward and shift our perspective. Instead of thinking of our life as if there is something missing, we should regard it with gratitude.
For instance, take some time to look around you right now. If you’re inside, someone built your apartment or home that you enjoy every day. Also, the clothes you are wearing were made by someone making minimum wage. We should be grateful for these small but necessary things in our life.
If we’re outside, take the time to adore nature and the cool breeze on a warm day. God created the world and all that is in it. How mighty and wonderful is this world of ours! Yet do we even take the time to stop and appreciate it?
Then recognize the people in your life who help you be your best every day. Some people lift you up and encourage you. Others help you with everyday things. Acknowledge them often and be grateful for all they do. Thank them and realize that you couldn’t do it on your own without them in your life.
Gratitude is a practise that can be learned. In this e-book, you will learn how to become more grateful and practise it in your life. First, I will discuss how we can rewire our natural proclivity towards negativity.
