About this ebook
A contemplative body of poetry that expands beyond the divinity within, touching on contemporary topics such as equality for women, careers, cultural norms, love and identity.
Centrepiece is an invitation to the reader to contemplate their outward appearance when making the choice to wear an outwardly unhappy appearance when we simply don’t get what we want. Is there not a more beautiful garment we could wear from our wardrobe of emotions?

Centrepiece - Simpy Kaur
Realise
-Purpose of living
What is existence
what is life
what is my purpose
someone tell me where I may immerse myself into something greater
a pot of gold won’t do me any good
if I don’t recognise my own value in this tiny world.
-Confessions to myself
My beautiful soul what have you become
estranged from your prime-self to an unknown territory
enraptured in anger when your ego is hurt
dressed in stress when things don’t go your way
drunk on jealousy when attention misses you
befriending hate when negativity overwhelms you
dancing to greed when materialism overpowers you
engrossed in lust forgetting your true love
true divinity
from which your existence is forever bound to
failing to recognise the façade you are blinded by
you continue to waste this precious life away.
-Under the influence
The night was young, and so was my intellect
my physical-self served the purpose of a lab
experiments with substances
all in the name of fun
the racing dopamine pounding through my head
a little more could do no harm
oh the convincing lies
a night of ecstasy made me love the world some more
strangers befriended at night
come tomorrow, the same faces
become a blur of insignificance
a slave to the enhancer of temporary joy
the numbness in my legs
from the hours on the dancefloor
music to my ears appliqued my soul
immeasurable doses piled in
I didn’t want this feeling to end
I’m wide awake now
sleep has closed its doors
and has no intention of welcoming me in
the deteriorating mood needs a night cap
a plant which serves a medicinal purpose
is a gift from the heavens
the spark of lighting up
the rolled beauty was all I looked forward to
my daily incense
thought I was zen with every hit
so oblivious to the snare
which consumed my conscious within.
-Daydreaming
Panoramic views on this carriage
take me to a place away from my present
perfect endings and no tragedies
the imagination of expectations for myself
the perfect career feeding my account thousands
the capital to fuel my travels
I want to create an album of memories on tour
I want to wear the trends
