Everything But a Smile - Candace D. Henry
CHAPTER ONE
Realizations
Clothes for Love
What is love when it wears
the shoes of hate
sweater of judgment
accessories of gossip
pants of vengeance
and the coat of conditions?
Real love is naked.
Women of a Certain Age
Women of a certain age
Can't tell the difference between love and pain
Just want to feel to know they're sane
Numb to the concept of shame
Their hearts grew weak from false loves
Skipping and breaking
Sitting alone in a corner shaking
Until they had no fucks left
To Be Me
If you've got it
Give it to me
Don't hesitate
Don't talk behind my back
Give it to me
Because your words are my fuel
I consume your judgment
Skate on your cold shoulders
Dance to your whispers
All to be me
Somewhere along the way, I spit out the Kool-Aid
I can’t be brainwashed
Your attempts left scars
Where I see color
You see stains
Strokes and splatters outside the lines
Ignorant to your
