    Mom had just entered our room.
    "I'm so glad you all enjoyed your first day at school, my baby boys." She then hugged us both very tightly, squeezing us to her face. Though she was our mom, it was very awkward and a little irritating to an extent. I let out a scream.
    Chariles: Aaahhh!!!
    I said while struggling to breathe.
    Charles: C'mon Mom.
    Mom: Ohh! I'm so sorry kids, but look; it's just twelve years ago, you boys were babies. I remember when I cuddled you up in bed and sing you lullabies.
    She was at this time already wiping away some tears. Charles made a strange face whiles raising his eyebrow as if he wanted to ask some sort of question. I just shrugged my shoulders back at him. I had been feeling worn out from my mom's drama. We made her sit down, and she thanked us. She was still crying, meanwhile, we both dashed into our rooms. This isn't probably a nice thing to do, but I couldn't stand her presence with all the tears and drama. Even if I tried to console her, she was just going to cry more.

    That night before I fell asleep, I saw a shooting star flying across the night sky. I quickly got up and run to my bedroom window to wish upon it.
    Chariles: Dear shooting star, I wish today that I want to be …
    Just at that moment, Darlin dashed in and screamed, "Charles!!!"
    I sighed and shook my head, but when I turned back to look at the window, the shooting star was gone.
    Chariles: Shoot, shoot, shoot, shittt!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      CHAPTER 1

      MY FIRST DAY

      AT SCHOOL

      One sunny morning, Charles and I were doing the dishes when Darlin rushed in from the door screaming ― as if someone was after her life. What is wrong with you? we asked. But her reply was unexpectedly rather harsh.

      Darlin: Can’t you see! I say can’t you see? What does this expression mean to you?

      Not knowing what to say, we just stared at her.

      Darlin: Well, for your information, I just passed my exams. I received a call from Jennifer this morning, and I was surprised to hear that she failed.

      Her sentences ended with a loud giggle.   

      Darlin: I knew Jennifer was good for nothing. She always was and she still is. What a silly girl.

      She giggled again as she climbed upstairs.

      Charles and I started laughing like crazy because everything was clear that she copied, from A to Z. For our big sister, Darlin to pass an exam fully sounded strange ― maybe in her dreams. We the young boys will not even cheat for once, but it doesn’t seem like a difficult thing for her.

      Charles: Oh my God, our sister is crazy! I just can’t stop laughing.

      I twitched a smile, and we continued with the dishes.

      After about an hour, I was already in a car on our way to school. I forgot to mention that it was my first day in primary six. For some rather weird reasons, I was so shy and felt nervous. My parents and I had to visit the proprietor first before going to my class. We managed to get there early. The proprietor had a quick chat with my parents.

      From their talk, I found out that her name was Mrs. Brooklyn Arthur. She was married and had two kids who are already in elementary school. I was actually evesdropping on their conversation, but I made sure it didn’t look like it. I didn’t want to put up a bad attitude as she barely knew me. She later called me to sit and we had a chat.

      Mrs. Brooklyn: So, what’s your name dear?

      Me: Chariles Simon.

      I answered politely.

      Mrs. Brooklyn: How old are you?

      Chariles: I’m 12 years old.

      Mrs. Brooklyn: Okay, what’s your date of birth?

      Chariles: 15th August 2010.

      Mrs. Brooklyn: Where were you born?

      Chariles: New Jersey, America.

      Mrs. Brooklyn: Are you the firstborn?

      Chariles: No please, I have a big sister and one twin brother.

      Mrs. Brooklyn: identical?

      Chariles: Yes please, he’s the one sitting there.

      Mrs. Brooklyn: Ok, thanks. You may take your leave now so your brother can also have his interview.

      She had been writing all my responses down in a book. She did the same with Charles. Finally, we got the opportunity to go to class. Immediately we got to the class, the teacher stood up and greeted us. We responded humbly and she introduced us to the class.

      Teacher: Hi everyone, say hello to your new classmates. But first I think they both have to introduce themselves.

      Charles: My name is Charles Simon. 

      Chariles: My name is Chariles Simon.

      Teacher: All right, so you may now take your sea...

      She couldn’t complete her sentence as she got interrupted by a screamed-out question from a girl in the class.

      Girl: Umm, umm, can I ask a question? Umm, how are we going to tell you guys apart? You know, you guys look so much alike. It’s going to be hard to differentiate you both. Isn’t there anything we can use to tell who is who, please?

      Then she sat down slowly. I took a deep sigh and responded;

      Chariles: If you look closely, you will notice that my eye color isn’t the same as my twin brother’s. Since we are blacks and it may be a little bit hard to tell, but my twin brother’s eye color is darker than mine.
