Ansusekhar Guin, retired from Govt. service in the year 2006, and Madhuri Guin are addicted to travelling and regularly travel within and outside India. They also operate a YouTube travel channel " The Bong Explorers", where they share videos of their trips. So far, they have uploaded 90 travel videos. Madhuri Guin operates an e-commerce business, named www.dollsofindia.com, where she is marketing Indian art and culture through paintings, sculptures, posters, Textiles, jewellery, fashion items, unique crafts and puja items. They just started writing picture travelogues and itineraries on their experience of travel in different countries. Chapter 1: FRANCE and Sample Itinerary: The Country of Love and Art
France, or the French Republic, is in Western Europe. On the North of France is North Sea, the English Channel is in the northwest, the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Mediterranean in the southeast. The land borders of France consist of Belgium and Luxembourg in the northeast, Germany and Switzerland in the east, Italy and Monaco in the southeast, and Andorra and Spain in the south and southwest.

Each corner of France has its own unique character. The rugged French Alps, the sun-drenched and slow-paced Provence, the glamorous and gorgeous Côte d'Azur coastline, and Alsace with picture-perfect hamlets nestled in vine-covered hills.

We visited France twice in April 2017 and July 2009. We will be presenting France in 10 episodes.
Transport:
Transportation in France is very dense, with road length of 146 km and 6.2 km of rail lines per 100 square kilometres of area. Paris is the centre of the transportation. Rail, road, air and water transportation are very well developed in France.
The French national railway company, SNCF, operates most 30,000 km of railway tracks. The state subsidises both rail and road in the country. Whole metro systems are in operation in Paris, Lyon and Marseilles. Light metro systems are in use in Lille, Toulouse and Rennes. Light rail or Tram systems are now operated in most French cities, like Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, and Toulouse.
France has got around one million km of road network. Flat rate chrge for individual journeys are provided for Urban bus services. Many cities have bus services that operate well in the suburbs or even the country.
The French natural and man-made waterways network is the largest in Europe, extending to over 8,500 kilometres. VNF, the French navigation authority, manages these waterways.
There are about 500 airports in France. Over 100 Airlines operate in these airports.
