    Chapter 1: The Prophecy

The village of Ulinara lay nestled between rolling green hills and ancient woods, its thatched huts shimmering under the gentle glow of celestial lights. Here, the heavens seemed closer, with the stars casting intricate patterns across the sky, whispering secrets to those willing to listen. The villagers lived simple lives, harvesting their fields by day and gathering around communal fires by night to tell stories of old.

    But this night was different.

A strange silence had descended upon Ulinara. Even the usual symphony of crickets and rustling leaves seemed to pause, as though the world itself held its breath. Above the village, the stars shimmered brighter than ever, forming an unusual alignment that hadn’t been seen in centuries. Elders murmured in hushed voices, their eyes wide with recognition and unease.

In the humble hut of a farmer named Ayelo, a child stirred in their sleep. Light flickered across their face—not the gentle glow of a lantern but an otherworldly brilliance that seemed to emanate from within. This child, barely twelve, bore no mark of extraordinary destiny. Yet tonight, their dreams carried them far beyond the village, to realms unknown.

    ––––––––

    The Celestial Vision

In the dream, the child found themselves standing on a vast expanse of glimmering crystal. Above them, the sky was a swirling tapestry of light and shadow, locked in a dance both beautiful and terrifying. In the center of this celestial arena stood a towering figure, cloaked in radiant white. Their voice echoed like a melody carried on the wind.

Child of Ulinara, the figure spoke, their tone both gentle and commanding, the heavens have chosen you. The balance of existence is crumbling, and only you can restore it.

The child trembled, their voice a whisper. Me? But I’m just... I’m just a farmer’s child. Why me?

The figure extended a hand, and in it appeared a staff carved from a glowing crystal. Its light pulsated like a heartbeat. Within you lies the strength of generations, the courage to face what others cannot. You are the Guardian of Light.

As the figure spoke, the sky above them cracked like fragile glass. Darkness spilled forth, consuming the stars one by one. The figure turned, their voice urgent. You must awaken! The time has come!

    The Village Awakens

The child awoke with a gasp, the brilliance from their dream still faintly illuminating the room. Their parents rushed to their side, their faces etched with concern.

What happened? their mother asked, placing a hand on the child’s forehead. You were glowing... like the stars themselves.

Before the child could answer, the sound of a gong echoed through the village, signaling an emergency gathering. The elders, clad in ceremonial robes adorned with celestial patterns, stood in the central square, their expressions grave.

We have seen the signs, Elder Enara began, her voice trembling with age yet resolute. The stars have aligned, and the prophecy has awakened. One among us has been chosen to restore the heavens.

The villagers murmured in confusion and fear. Prophecies were the stuff of ancient legends, tales told to entertain children by the fire. Yet here they were, facing the impossible.

The child stepped forward, their legs shaking but their heart steady. It was me. I saw the vision.

Gasps rippled through the crowd. Some looked upon the child with awe, others with doubt. A grizzled blacksmith named Korr stepped forward, his voice skeptical. This child? They can’t even lift a hoe properly. How are they supposed to save the heavens?

Elder Enara silenced the dissent with a raised hand. The prophecy is not ours to question. The stars have spoken, and they have chosen.

    The Guardian's Doubt

In the days that followed, the child’s life transformed. Elders surrounded them, recounting tales of the Rift Eternal—a cosmic divide where Light and Darkness clashed. They explained that the balance of the heavens had been preserved for eons, but now, the scales tipped dangerously toward chaos.

Despite their words of encouragement, doubt gnawed at the child’s heart. They were no hero, no warrior. They were just a child who enjoyed chasing fireflies and listening to their grandfather’s stories. How could they possibly fulfill this monumental task?

One evening, as the village prepared for a ritual to bless the child’s journey, the celestial guide from the dream appeared once more. This time, they took on a form visible to all—a being of radiant energy, neither male nor female, their presence both comforting and awe-inspiring.

You doubt yourself, the guide said, kneeling before the child. That is natural. But strength is not born from certainty; it is forged through the trials you will face.

The child looked up, tears brimming in their eyes. But what if I fail? What if I’m not enough?

The guide placed a glowing hand on the child’s shoulder. You are not alone. The village, your ancestors, the very cosmos—they all walk with you. And in time, you will see the strength that lies within.

    The Resolution

The ritual began as the moon reached its zenith. The villagers gathered around a sacred fire, singing hymns that resonated with ancient power. The child stood at the center, holding the celestial staff that had appeared before them during the vision. Its light grew brighter with each verse, filling the square with a warmth that chased away the shadows.

As the ritual concluded, a sense of calm settled over the village. For the first time, the child felt a glimmer of hope. They were still afraid,
