Description

Cass Midgley and Marie D'Elephant talk with Britta. Britta brings something that is truly edifying: her self, her experience, and her honesty. Another astounding human conversation. Britta studied pre-nursing as an undergrad and speaks fluent Spanish. It was in the context of medical mission trips that cognitive dissonance around Christianity began. Today she is an artist and maker from Minneapolis, MN. Britta employs visual poetics through exploring the storied history and essence of materials. She works in a diverse range of mediums including metal, wood, paint and found objects, which take on 2D, 3D or virtual forms. She is fascinated by cycles of destruction and creation that are both natural and man-made. Her aim is to tease out stories that explore and challenge our ideas of humanity, violence and identity. She worked as a foundry assistant in the studio of Minneapolis bronze sculptor Nicholas Legeros. Britta has studied with renowned German sculptor Hannes Brunner from the Wiessensee Academy in Berlin. The tag line for this episode is "own your drop." This refers to something Britta says in the interview that is a worldview she holds. That we're all a drop in the ocean and she's chosen to own her drop. Which is another way of saying yes to what is.   We taped this conversation on Oct 17th, 2018. The intro music is by Dave Weckl called "Just Groove Me" The segue music on this episode is "Two Wounded Birds" by Caitlyn Smith Thanks for listening and Be a Yes-Sayer to what is. We interview people you don’t know, about a subject no one wants to talk about. We hope to encourage people in the process of deconstructing their faith and help curb the loneliness that accompanies it. We think the world is a better place when more people live by sight, not by faith. Please subscribe to our podcast, and leave a review wherever you listen to podcasts. I want to introduce a new co-host on this show. Marie. She's been on the show as a guest before and we met in October at the retreat. I've wanted a woman's voice for some time and had considered two women as co-hosts when Bob left that just didn't pan out. I've done the show solo for several months and had pretty much settled into that as the new reality. When Marie offered to help out, it was initially in a managerial capacity. She handles all the social media associated with the podcast and schedules all the guests. But when she expressed a desire to co-host, I decided to give it a try and today is her first appearance in that capacity.  https://brittajmuldoon.com/  EMDR Therapy  https://pemachodronfoundation.org/  Letters to A Young Poet   Last note: We were listed in the top 30 Religious Podcasts by Feedspot! https://blog.feedspot.com/religious_podcasts/
