Reception staff and management were very helpful in locating computer left in taxi. Also excellent in letting us check in so early as we had a long flight in all the way from NZ. Wonderful service all round. Second visit and will stay again.
Great hotel with brilliant staff. It was my birthday and every interaction with staff they wished me happy birthday without me telling them it was my birthday. I also had a chocolate bar and happy birthday message sent up to my room which was a lovely gesture. All staff, breakfast, reception, cocktail bar were incredibly friendly and helpful.
The breakfast has lots of continental options and a hot food section. The only slight downside was the hot food was luke warm at best. We went down at 7am one morning and after 8am the next and didn't struggle for a table.
The hotel itself is beautiful. Lovely rooms and was great to have a balcony overlooking the water. One downside was noisy neighbours we could hear blasting music through the wall one evening, but there hotel itself is pretty quiet, especially as it's out of the city centre.
The cocktail bar was also a nice treat to visit. Good views and very friendly staff. Plus tasty cocktails.
The hotel is easy to access via public transport as there is a regular 43 bus that stops outside the hotel and picks up on the road just round the corner. We travelled via train from the airport and bus to the hotel once we got to central Amsterdam train station. We also walked into the city once, which was fine for pedestrian access.
The stunning decor and cleanliness of the property combined with helpful staff and delicious breakfast made my stay memorable. The location is quiet and peaceful, but with easy access to the central train station, along the water. I hope to return!
Overall a very nice hotel and stay
The breakfast was very nice and meals we had in the restaurant and bakery were great. Our only complaint was the lighting. Rooms are very dark and the automatic light in the toilet is a bad idea. Ours stayed on for about 3 seconds and other people said theirs stayed on much mich longer
This hotel is beautifully designed. The location is not ideal if you prefer to spend a lot of time in the city center. We did not mind as we enjoyed walking into the city center - walk took around 30 minutes. The good at the restaurant is quite good and we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The staff were friendly. The cleaners did not go above and beyond but were decent. The day we arrived there were empty bottles left right outside our room which were not cleared until the following evening after we told the reception. We also went out for a full day from 9am and returned at 3pm and our room still had not been cleaned until we called down.
Overall, this was a true 4 star hotel. Did not have the 5 star touches but was worth checking out for part of our stay in Amsterdam. If I was only staying at this hotel, I would pick somewhere closer to city center. We moved to a more central location for the balance of our stay.
I stayed at Hotel Jakarta while spending a few days in Amsterdam October 8-12 and had a fabulous stay!
The hotel is gorgeous and looks exactly as depicted on the website. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was delicious!!! The Indonesian dinner menu did not disappoint! The nasi goreng was delicious! BReakfast was also included and had a nice variety of offerings: deli meat and cheese, vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes), scrambled eggs, eggs benedict, pancakes, waffles, fruit, yogurt, granola (bars & loose), hot and cold beverages.
Malabar lounge is on the 8th floor and is a great way to end the day with drinks and enjoy the beautiful view of the city. On Friday and Saturday nights they have a DJ that comes in and plays music.
The hotel is outside of the City Centre so you will need to take a bus (#43 from Tosaristraat) from the hotel or tram (#26 from Kattenburgerstraat) to get to Centraal Station, which takes about 15 mins. From Centraal Station you can walk or take a tram to Dam Square or other attractions.
The staff are friendly and very welcoming - Chormina, Jermaine and Lisa stood out to me. I have stayed at many hotels and resorts throughout Canada, USA, Caribbean and Europe and I must say that the hotel manager, Frank Tuhusula, was very attentive to all guests. If you were sitting in the lobby he would ask if there was anything that was needed; making sure everyone was looked after and doing okay. If the other 2 front end staff were busy checking i
