simvastatin) to
simvastatin monotherapy among patients with stabilized ACS during a median six years of follow-up.
On the other hand,
simvastatin is efficacious in maintaining weight and is much more effective than placebo-controlled diets, however, also has side effects just like any other drug.[5] Results of this study will aid people to choose which is the more suitable weight loss option for them, whether natural through plant extracts and herbs or the traditional usage of medicinal weight loss pills.
The patient ingests a
simvastatin tablet and then provides a blood sample at two later time points.
Statins inhibit 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, the rate-determining enzyme in the multistep mevalonate cascade for cholesterol synthesis.[17] Statins are widely used in the prevention of cardiovascular disease by lowering cholesterol.[17] Beyond their cholesterol reduction effect, statins have been shown to have pleiotropic effects.[15],[16],[17] Accumulating evidences indicated that the inhibition of the mevalonate pathway by statins induced ER stress and apoptosis in cancerous and noncancerous cells.[17],[18],[19],[20] In this study, we explored the beneficial effect of
simvastatin on ox-LDL-induced ER stress and apoptosis in human vascular endothelial cells.
Taken together, in this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of chronic
simvastatin administration on experimental schizophrenia models in mice in order to determine an antipsychotic-like activity of
simvastatin.
Simvastatin is a cholesterol-lowering medication which acts by inhibiting hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, hence used for the primary and secondary prevention of ischemic stroke.
After a one week of adaptation period, the rats were randomly divided into four groups (n=6) and were classified as Control group (LFD):rats were fed with standard laboratory chow for 15 weeks; HFD group: rats were fed HFD for 15 weeks to induce NAFLD; HFD + aronia group: rats were fed HFD for 11 weeks and then received Crataegus aronia (200 mg/kg body weight/day) during the last 4weeks; HFD +
simvastatin: rats were fed with HFD for 11 weeks and then received
simvastatin (4 mg/kg of body weight/day) during the last 4 weeks of the experiment (Al Humayed 2016).
The trial will be operated from 30 sites across the UK and will examine whether
simvastatin can slow disability progression in patients over a three-year period.
Patients in the control group were orally administrated 20 mg of
simvastatin, once a day.
Besides the positive control group, the group treated with
simvastatin experienced highest decrease in total plasma cholesterol levels for 39.42 mg/dl compare with other experimental groups.
Her current medications included oral fluconazole 400 mg/d,
simvastatin 20 mg/d, levothyroxine 88 mcg/d, pregabalin 75 mg/d, metformin 1000 mg twice daily, 6 units of subcutaneous insulin glargine at bedtime, and 2 units of insulin lispro with each meal.
