Chromosomes are protected, top and bottom, by sections called
telomeres. The health of these "end caps" is crucial to your health and longevity.
The new studies on stress shows social isolation, untreated depression, prolong anxiety attacks and long-term unemployment can speed-up the ageing process by shortening the length of each DNA strand called
telomeres. Every human cell has 46 chromosomes and each chromosome is like a DNA library with two protective caps on the end known as
telomeres.
Finally, if you have trouble sticking to a healthy diet--or if you want to go a step further to protect your telomeres--you can try Advanced
Telomere Support (800-791-3395).
"With this work, we now understand better how
telomere regulation works, a key process in cancer and ageing", says Jose Escandell, first author of the publication,aACA[yen] Ferreira added.
They determined everyone's aerobic fitness and drew blood to measure
telomere length in their white blood cells (which usually are used in studies of
telomeres, because they are so readily accessible).
Minhee Jin, from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and colleagues measured the absolute
telomere length of DNA extracted from blood samples of 576 patients with moderate-to-severe COPD treated with azithromycin or placebo for 12 months.
The company suggested the ingredient can help decrease the time it takes to shorten
telomere cellular age.
Age is the strongest predictor of
telomere length:
telomeres shorten in length during each cell cycle.
However,
telomere length was not associated with developmental score in the subset of 210 children tested at age 2, although the researchers say the finding doesn't rule out
telomere length-related neurodevelopmental problems at later ages.

"The next step is to assess
telomere length in larger studies to establish how it can be integrated into existing assessments that predict patient outcome."
TEHRAN (FNA)- Children and teens exposed to high levels of traffic-related air pollution have evidence of a specific type of DNA damage called
telomere shortening, reports a new study.
"The laboratory method that companies like these employ is the easiest to use, but the least reliable," says
telomere expert Mary Armanios.
