"No surprises here as the reigning Champion calls on Mega Altaria, a crowd favorite, as his first choice against Challenger Tangent's Zoroark. This matchup doesn't offer anyone a type advantage, but... uh-oh, looks like something's gone wrong with the challenger's Mega Stone. It's erupted in sparks! I've never seen this happen before, folks, but don't worry, the medics are on their - HOLY ARCEUS, what?!"
Tangent cried out in shock as electricity engulfed his left arm, arcs of bright orange-yellow lightning sparking from his Mega Stone. His heart lurched in his chest as he staggered forward, suddenly dizzy. An itchy prickling feeling ran across his skin, followed by waves of blue and dark grey fur, and he curled his fingers in on themselves as his nails sharpened into translucent claws and his palms and fingertips pushed up into plush but calloused pads. He reeled on tiptoes as his heels abruptly lengthened and his shins pulled up towards his knees, struggling to stay upright as the crowd screamed and gasped around him.
Somewhere in the background the announcer was still narrating, the crowd going wild as the Champion and his Altaria stood frozen in shock on the other side of the field. Tangent's muscles twisted and pulled under his fur, and he could feel the power building within himself. He'd thought he was pretty strong as a human, but this... he was built to fight. He was more than just strong, his arms and legs tightly-wound coils of potential energy just waiting for an outlet. His jeans and jacket stretched around the new muscles as they grew, ripping and tearing at the seams as the point of a spike pushed out of the tufts of fur across his chest and ripped clean through his shirt. Simultaneously, the seat of his pants stretched as he felt his spine elongate. The denim grew uncomfortably tight, pulling painfully tight back around his waist and thighs, before bursting into shreds to reveal a fluffy blue tail with a black tip.
Tangent gasped, trying to call out to his Zoroark even as his mouth and nose pushed out into his vision and his teeth sharpened around a flattening tongue. "What'sh - Zhoroark, mmmllll... Luc... Luc?... Lucario!" The sound of the crowd intensified as his ears slid up the sides of his head and expanded into pointed shells perfect for funneling sound. The last of the changes were finally coming in now: claws ripped through shoes as his big toe slid up to form a dew claw, his hair darkened, and his shoulders and thighs padded with fur. Finally even the colors of the world around him shifted as his vision changed, and as his eyes changed to bright blue, his unexpected species switch was complete. A few final sparks of electricity ran up his arm and across his shoulders, then disippated, leaving the new Pokémon out of breath with a racing heart.
Zoroark grinned in surprised delight.
And as the announcer struggled for words, the Jumbotron closeup cam zoomed in, dutifully recording the events of the day for posterity and replays.
