4 Stars for the story...1 Star for a lead Athlete Hero who does NOT dip his wick in every moist hole available.
So refreshing I'll even overlook the somewhat train wreck that was this books 4th quarter.
Speaking oflame football jokes the 4th quarter, I LOVED that the author speaks legit football. Bra-effin-vo.

Let me start with 2 simple questions:
1. Have you read and completely loved Elle Kennedy's and Kristen Callihan's NA novels?
2. Do you enjoy sweet, sexy, flirty books?
If you answered YES to both… then meet your new favorite book.
To say that I am still a little bit dazzled it’s an understatement. Even though I’ve finished reading Sacked a few days ago I am still very much weak in the knees for Knox Masters.
Jen Frederick created a story that will with no doubt be replaying in my head for a great deal of time. For me it was everything I desired and more. In two words: Absolute hit! Not only did it tick all the boxes on my ‘PERFECT COLLEGE READ’ list but it also turned me into a complete Knox Master’s fangirl. Yep, I would so become a jersey chaser for that boy! How could I not? A sexy virgin football player who’s genuinely good and funny guy is like my dream coming true.
And maybe this story was not completely flawless… but for me it still worked very well. I may not be a fan of insta love/insta lust and I definitely haven’t been happy with the ending and found it a tad bit too much, yet somehow Jen Frederick managed to make me love this story. And along with Elle Kennedy and Kristen Callihan she was able to do the unthinkable – she made me devour a book with sports in it… and I am so not a sports type of girl.

What makes this novel worth picking up?
- ‘Adorable, heart fluttering, hands shaking, big smile’ on your face romance
- Amazing, laugh till you cry banter
- Fantastic main hero (good looking, driven, incredible, nice guy and plot twist a virgin)
- Likeable heroine (sassy and snarky)
- Of the charts hot scenes! *winks* and delicious, intense chemistry
- Secondary characters that will rock your world (oh those football players!)
If that’s not enough to make a New Adult novel a bestseller then I don’t know what I am doing reviewing and blogging.
If you like me absolutely love sweet collage romances, Sacked is a must read for you. Not picking up this book is a serious crime. Something you will probably regret all your life… So fans of NA do yourself a favor and one click it immediately. Knox Masters is ready for you! The question is are you ready and willing to meet him?

4 Stars!!!
This was my first book by this author, so I didn’t have any idea what to expect. However I heard this series, or more exactly this installment is very similar with Elle Kennedy’s newest NA series, “Off- Campus”. Since I enjoyed every installment in that series, I decided to give this one a try. And let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed at all. Jen Frederick delivered an entertaining, sweet and fluffy (at times) sports/college romance that I truly enjoyed. The story was refreshing, heartwarming at times with endearing main and supporting character and a great love story.
Knox Masters is a GOD…obviously just in campus…but still. The two times All American Defensive End, winner of every defensive player award handed out last year and captain of the team, Knox is famous, gorgeous with a nice sculpted body to die for. Needless to say every girl on campus wants to be in his bed. But there’s one tiny problem, Knox is virgin. He’s not exactly inexperienced, but all this time he preferred to be single since he always believed staying that way was better since he plans to chase his NFL. On top of that he really believes there’s someone for him, only him…so he’s waiting for the one.
When Knox meets Ellie he’s more than smitten with her. He thinks, actually he knows she’s the only one for him and he’s ready to do anything to convinced the brown haired beauty that he’s not like the other players and wants something meaningful with her.
Ellie has two good solid reasons not to date football players, so no matter how appealing Knox seems to be, she believes he’s not for her. She already has enough things on her mind, like keeping some nasty secret in order to protect her brother and keep his place on the team. She tries hard to stay away from Knox, but when the chemistry between them is as combustible as it is, it’s very hard to do that.
This story was really well written and enjoyable from start to finish. Knox was such an endearing character. I loved him to pieces. He was simply refreshing. He’s sweet and funny, a great football player and a great friend, he’s considerate and thoughtful and I absolutely loved the way he was with Ellie. To say that I enjoyed the fact the Knox was the virgin of the story it’s an understatement. I can't say I'm a fan of virgin heroes in my books, but here it worked for me. Our heroine is smart, strong, sassy, witty and such a great sister to Jack. Maybe she made her mistakes, but I really admired her for what she did for her brother. She clearly loved him very much.
I enjoyed Knox and Ellie’s first encounter, but I can’t say the same about the insta-love between them. It didn’t bothered me too much, because it was done pretty well and the story in some way wasn’t focused exactly on this aspect. The chase between these two was entertaining and I loved their interactions. The dialogue was light, fun, witty and totally enjoyable. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two characters were done very well and the sex scenes were hot as hell. Loved these two in and out of bed!
I admit, the plot was somehow different from other college romance novels I have read so far which I enjoyed. I appreciated the fact the story wasn’t heavy and angst and drama. However I have to mention a certain situation in the end really made me roll my eyes. It felt more than OTT. In spite of that, I enjoyed this one and I’m looking forward to read the next books in the series.
Overall, a great enjoyable read!

Now before you start reaching for rotten tomatoes and pitchforks, allow me to clarify my rating here. See, here's the thing, I liked this book. It was wonderfully written and being my first book by this author I already know I'll be reading all her others. I'm also completely hooked on this series and absolutely loved the set up as well as all the secondary characters. I also truly enjoyed both MCs here. At this point you're probably sitting there and thinking, then why the hell are you marking this only 3.5 stars?
Well...bluntly put...it was just too sweet for my tastes. *ducks flying tomatoes*
I know! I know! Clearly there's something wrong me with me and obviously this is a case of me and not the book if ever there was one but it just wasn't quite my cuppa and I'll get to the exact reasons why now...
Knox Masters is the All American Defensive End, football superstar, walking wet dream...and virgin.
Now I loved that this wasn't a source of shame or secret for him. He owned it. It wasn't a secret and he didn't make it one, nor does he make it a given to spread it around campus either. The problem? I just don't buy it. Ugh. I'm sorry! It's that damn cynic in me, but a college junior, surrounded by football groupies, all his teammates are male sluts, but he's a virgin because...reasons.
But this was also wonderfully...refreshing. This is my second time reading about a male virgin and I believe Jen Frederick pulled it off very well. Knox is just one of those characters that you can't help but love. He goes after what he wants with a single-minded intent and feels no need for immature mind games that you'd find with most heroes in the NA genre.
It also doesn't hurt that the man is packing more than shoulder pads...uhem.
What ultimately brought my rating down was 2 specific things.
(1) The insta-love.
This was at 4%!
In the book's defense I am not, nor will I ever be a fan of insta-love, no matter how well it's pulled off. And it IS pulled off wonderfully here. It's just not my cuppa. I can't help it. I gave it the old college try (pun intended) but could never really see past it. Perhaps because he was also a virgin on top of everything else? Whatever the case may be, I suppose I just wanted a little more interaction between them before this came into the mix. Like say, at least 12%?
(2) The last 20%.
Oh the cheese of it all. Now before you toss the rest of your rotten tomatoes at me, I will say that most readers will love this. For me it was just too much.
I believe most readers will absolutely adore Sacked. It's just one of those light and sexy, sweet and easy feel good romances. It's wonderfully written with endearing characters and it's definitely a series that I plan on following. I just don't think that male virgins will ever be my cuppa.
I highly recommend this book for any fans of New Adult romance. If you've avoided this genre because of the male manwhores and super angst, this is the perfect book for you. A guaranteed love :)

Where do I even start with this book? You know how it feels when you start reading and all the components of the story click into place like a puzzle piece, and you can sense it almost immediately? There's no forcing of a square peg into a round hole. There's no struggle. Then you get to the end, and it may not have been perfectly executed, but it was perfectly expressed and felt. And that's where I'm at right now. I feel a little slaphappy sitting here thinking about how feel good this story was. I couldn't have wiped the bemused smile off of my face for the majority of the book and sometime after. Because you know what? This book surprised me. I was hoping for the best, but I wasn't expecting it.
I'm not going to lie here, this book has a major no-no for me. Whenever I see this trope in a book, I run far and fast while eye-rolling the entire time.
Insta-love.
Yes, this book has insta-love. And it didn't ruin everything for me like it should have. I had a niggling feeling of doubt when the hero becomes instantly sure that the heroine is "the one" after a handful of days. But there was strong foundation of excellent character development underneath that, and the writing was carried out with precision. So ask me if I care? I'll give you two hints: N and O.
This story may seem like something you've seen many times before. A regurgitated NA cliche about the star college jock and the regular girl finding love. Of course, she wants nothing to do with him and he has to pursue her and convince her of his sincerity. There's just one thing about that picture that's askew. One of the characters is the definition of an oxymoron. College football star and virgin. You know what's even more contradictory about it? He's not like your typical virgin. (Thank god!) When I think virgin, I picture someone shy, nervous, unskilled, awkward, or a million other similar synonyms. Not Knox Masters.
"I know that shoving your face between my legs is not cool but, holy hell, Knox, what you're doing to me..."
She sounds amazed. I love that. She's having her own first. Both my heads swell bigger.
"No, baby. This is awesome. Fuck my face," I order her.
"Are you sure?"
"I've never been more sure than anything."
His skill on the football field has given him confidence, and a ripped 6'6 body that moves with power and strength. His charm could melt the panties right off his choice of girls at school. Yet, he practices self-restraint and pushes himself to wait to share his body with the girl who's worth it. And that's like dangling a carrot in front of a mob of rabid rabbits. They all want to be the one to catch the elusive Knox.
Ellie's brother Jack is on Knox's team and she has a policy of not dipping her toe in the football player pool. She got burned in high school trying it and the consequences were disastrous. She's determined never to repeat that mistake again. To top it all off, Ellie's harboring a deep dark secret that stands to ruin lives if it's ever uncovered. Something that wracks her with guilt and makes her feel unworthy of Knox and everything he wants to build with her. How could she ever drag him into the corner she's backed herself into? He's destined for stardom and the NFL. She's floundering in the deep end just trying to survive. She soon realizes that Knox is a force to be reckoned with and he isn't taking her refusals laying down.
Is there anything more tempting than a man who not only tells you how much he respects you, but shows you your value in the most clear and concise way possible? A man who treats you as someone who deserves to be cherished rather than seen as dispensable?
All my life, I've never been anything but Jack's sister. To Knox, I'm the person he waited for his entire life.
This. Couple. Hooked. Me. The sexual tension was so strong between these two it was it's own tangible entity in the story. The anxiety and anticipation caused from Knox's bottled up sexuality is so gripping. I was restless and itchy waiting for them to do the deed.
I can't even. Holy fuck were they blistering hot together. All of that expectant angst crashed in a feverish crescendo. It was perfect.
He's wrecking me, in long licks and tiny bites, one tender and scorching hot kiss at a time.
The dizzying amount of literal laugh out loud moments pushed my rating over the final hurdle to 5 stars. His teammates were a bunch of ball busters, I was eating it up. And Ellie and Knox's bantering was exceptional. From their very first meeting, they were trading barbs and bouncing cheekiness off of each other. This is the kind of sexy/playful combination I'm always searching for and hardly ever find.
"Running these steps is good for my heart. As a bonus it sweats the stupid out of me."
"Do you have a lot of stupid to sweat out?" She holds back a laugh.
I grin back. "It regenerates every day."
How can you nitpick about the finer details when you've been totally and unconditionally entertained from cover to cover? This book was fun, frisky, and re-read worthy. There was something comforting about this couple that effortlessly wrapped itself around me like a cozy blanket. It has to be my favorite New Adult from this author yet. Take the risk and pick this one up. It could be the most pleasant surprise you've come across in this genre in some time.

4.5 TOUCH DOWN STARS
Well, you'd think that I've had enough of the locker room and college sports with all of the great reads that have come out over the past several months. But nah, this girl likes her sport romances and there's just something about a hot, sexy, breathless, sweaty athlete!
Well, this was my first Jen Frederick read and now I've got another go-to author to add to my list!! This was another great read of a genre and topic that you'd think has been done to death but Jen Frederick gives us an original and refreshing story.
Here we have Knox Masters "decorated defensive end, captain of the Western State Warriors, and projected top ten NFL draft pick." who sets his sights on Eliot (Ellie)Campbell -- he knows she's the ONE -- without even knowing her name.
Knox was so easy to like. There's also a really great twist to Knox (I won't spoil it) that just makes him unlike most God-like College star athletes and made me love him all the more. And Ellie was just how I like my heroines - sassy, smart, witty and strong. These two were great together. I'm also a sucker for when the boy chases the girl which is exactly what we get here as Ellie and football players don't mix.
"He's a bulldozer, forging forward to take what he wants. And somehow he wants me."
"He's wrecking me, in long licks and tiny bites, one tender and scorching hot kiss at a time.
I want to suspend time and remain in this moment forever with his big frame blotting out the light and his mouth memorizing every curve and plane of my face.
I feel weightless, protected and cherished."
One thing that I'm not a fan of but will admit that some authors can pull it off is insta-love. Yes, there was insta-love here but you know what? Ms. Frederick made it work with the unique situation she created, the character development and the plot.
"I give myself over to his dominance. His wildness feeds my own until I barely know where he ends and I begin. We are one, infused with the same euphoria, possessed by the same need, bound together by the same love."
Finally, one sublime, added touch was how Jen Frederick's not only gives us a great romance but she also gives us the spirit and heart of football. She perfectly captures the plays, passion, drive, sacrifice and bond of the players. I want more of these Western State Warriors, especially Matty's and Jack's stories!

Yes, I read this. From beginning to end *hangs head in shame* This desperately saddening, upsetting, depressing fact should give you a clue as to my current mental state.
All I have to say about this delightful story is: so much juvenile cheese, sheer stupidity and pathetically manufactured pathetic drama should be outlawed. Such a severe case of award-winning, unequalled, OTT insta-freaking-lurvitis should be mercilessly, ruthlessly punished.

➦This is a stand alone new adult sports romance novel, first in the Gridiron series. Where does that term come from anyways?
"Gridiron" is a reference to the design and shape of the lines on the field of play, which resemble that of a gridiron - a grid-shaped metal grate used for cooking (like those found on a grill).
Well, cuz... FOOTBALL.
➦So... A VIRGIN star college football player for a hero? Um, yes please! If you think you'd find this to be an aphrodisiac... then by all means... have a read, would ya?
➦I should perhaps mention that Knox has an identical twin and has a bit of a complex when it comes to girls not being able to tell them apart.
❤The first half of the book was HOT! I loved the anticipation and a little back and forth the MCs had going. Ellie, the heroine, was against dating a football player so Knox had some convincing to do.
➦The hero experiences a case of insta-love and repeatedly declares Ellie to be "the one." I'ts cute, really. I could have totally overlooked everything if it wasn't for a totally predictable and cheesy ending >.< But oh well, liked it non the less!
➦Recommended for those who enjoy sports romances, college scene, a bit of drama and cheesy sprinkles on top.
Oh! One last thing I have to include! Our hero goes to work out and sees his buddy doing deadlifts. He then decides to spot him.
I mean, I had a fit imagining two football players doing this. I don't know of any other way to spot a deadlift, do you? :)

I love NA/sports romance so I have no idea what took me so long to pick up Sacked! This one was great, it had an interesting story line, refreshing hero, and I overall loved the book!
Ellie is going into her junior year of college at a new school. Her brother is playing football for this school, and she's very close with him. One of my favorite things about this book was the sibling relationship between Ellie and Jack! On her first day, she meets Knox Masters. Knox is the big man on campus. He's a star on the football team and will most likely be drafted this season. Knox lets nothing distract him, not even the countless women that throw themselves at him. That's why he's still a virgin. Ellie, however, is very distracting to Knox. It's definitely love at first sight when he sees her.
Yes, this book was a bit insta-love, and no... I didn't care one bit. I still loved it to pieces. It was so close to a 5 star read for me, but there was something that made it not quite a 5 . Still, the ending was pretty much perfection and I would highly recommend it. I listened to the audio book, and the female narrator did a great job, but the male sounded much older than Knox should be. Sacked is one of those unputdownable books. I really did love the story and I'm looking forward to reading more from this series! I really hope the author writes a Jack book down the line!

This is my first book by this author and if you fall into the picky-bitch category you may want to skip this one. This story is all about the hero falling madly in love with the heroine from first glance (instant love). My other issue with this book was the over the top solution to the couple’s problem. Regardless of the aspects of this story that I questioned, this was a good read for me. The author sure knows how to write about football, her sex scenes are hot, her setting and all supporting characters were spot on. I’m so very excited that I found a new college football series!!
Knox Masters is the starting defensive end and captain of the Western State Warriors and ladies he’s… A VIRGIN.
Finding a girl to hook up with isn’t the problem for Knox. He isn’t abstaining for religious reasons, he just wants to wait for the one. From his first encounter with Eliot Campbell he decides that he’s found her.
”She’s the one, bro.”
“The one what?”
“Dude.” I frown. “The one.”
Eliot’s attending Western State with her brother Jack. Jack has a learning disability and Elie's parents have forced her to cheat and fix Jack's work since 8th grade. Poor Jack has no clue. This storyline was actually very interesting. At times though it was questionable. For instance, never seeing her in the same classroom and the teacher never calling on her? Anyway, cheating for her brother ends up putting Jack’s play on the Warrior’s at risk as well as Knox since he was put incharge of looking out for his teammate. Both guys are in jeopardy by Elie’s actions and they don’t even know it!
Now back to Knox Masters and his v-card. Knox is so sure Elie’s the one that from the get-go the sexual chemistry is off the charts and he proceeds to win Elie’s attention and affection.
”I’m not experienced, but I know when a girl is into me, and you’re into me. You want to play it casual, then that’s how we play it…for now. But fair warning, I’m bringing everything I’ve got to tear down your resistance. My speciality is reading plays and and then overcoming the barriers.”
Knox was a great sexy hero. He went from virgin to pervert in ….

Overall, I truly enjoyed this story and that epilogue at restaurant scene was fantastic. Although I’m not an instant love fan, for Knox I went with it and I’m so very glad I did. Knox Masters is a star on the football field and in the bedroom and totally won this reader over. So now the big question is which Warrior player is the next book about?

Knox Masters is a college football superstar on the verge of becoming a top draft pick in the NFL. One morning, he meets Ellie and becomes instantly smitten with Ellie, and relentlessly pursues her. But Ellie is having none of it. She has something to hide and it could affect not only Knox's chances with the NFL but her brother's chances at playing football.
Sacked is one of those sweet, easy reads that has likable characters, great banter and serious steam. I liked the relationships among the players—with Knox and his teammates; Ellie and her brother; Knox and Ellie. I especially enjoyed reading about Knox's teammates. Those interactions were hilarious. I also really liked the chemistry between Knox and Ellie. But what really stood out for me aside from Knox and Elli's relationship was Ellie's relationship with her brother Jack. The way they were there for each other despite the shitty way their parents treated them was great to read. It added some complexity to Ellie's character and it makes her reticent to start something with Knox understandable.
I also loved how football was weaved prominently throughout the book. I notice sometimes with sports romance that the sports side isn't really given enough focus. But here, it plays an important role. You get to see the dedication, discipline, and passion these athletes have for football. Again, it adds an interesting layer to the story overall.
Knox Masters is the perfect hero. And when I say perfect, I mean, perfect. Too perfect, in fact, that his character became too Gary Stu-ish for me. I mean, he's hot, popular, a great jock, a virgin and knows where to put it. Not only that he's also a one woman man looking for The One. Too perfect. Also I wasn't a fan of the . I know Jude Deveraux has used this type of in her own novels and I've always found it unbelievable and crazy. I wasn't a fan then and I wasn't a fan now.
Despite that, this book ended up being really enjoyable and fun to read. And Jen Frederick has perfectly set up the other characters to have their own story, too which I'm definitely looking forward to reading. Can't wait.

I love it when a book grips me from the get go, gives me all the feels, both good and bad, and just won't let me put it down for even a minute. This is how I felt whilst reading Sacked, it was just the kind of book I was looking for, it was sweet and angsty with a whole lot of REALLY hot scenes.
It's nothing new, it's a new adult, college based, sports romance between the super hot football player and a normal everyday girl. However, the main thing which I really liked about this book that made it a little bit different from the norm, was that the hero is a virgin, and is not afraid to show his heart on his sleeve.
Knox Masters is waiting for the one, he wants to wait until he meets a girl that he can connect with and have a good solid relationship. He is not looking for soulless encounters like so many of his team members. He is a man who knows what he wants, so when he meets a girl one morning at the football stadium who is beautiful, appears to love football as much as he does, makes him laugh and whom he clicks with almost immediately, he knows that she is the person he wants to pursue.
Yeah, so he is smitten pretty much from the get go, but Ellie Campbell is not having any of it. She is keeping a huge secret from everyone in order to help her brother Jack keep his place on the football team, and so she really doesn't want to get involved with one of his team-mates, especially one as popular and with so much to lose as Knox; she feels like she isn't good enough for him.
She tries to stay away she really does, but the sexual chemistry between these two is something fierce! Seriously, my kindle was on fire - the sex and all lead up to it was top notch.
Knox was perfect, I don't think there was anything about him that you could fault. He was so respectful and thoughtful, but with an edge that made him sexy and confident.
Also, this book made me laugh - the banter was so funny and the relationship between team-mates Matty and Gunner had me giggling like a kid, their back and forth was hilarious! I really can't wait to read more of this series, because it could definitely turn out to be a fave.
My only complaint, was the overly neat tied up ending (a bit cheesy, but it fit the book)

I love a good romance and add a romantic, sexy and extremely alpha hero and I’m a puddle of goo and very happy. Knox was an AWESOME hero. This man/boy (he’s 21…still a baby in my old eyes) has ticked all my boxes and left me very impressed. Knox is determined, driven and dedicated to succeed in his chosen path. I admire a man that doesn’t let his other brain make his decisions. The biggest heart flutter moment for me though, was when he instantly decided that the beautiful, bright and busty Eliot was his perfect match. Yes, a good old case of insta-lust. I wonder if she would have run for the hills if she’d known what he was thinking the first time they met?
Elliot (poor bugger…that name, her parents were WACKO) has one person in her life that has always been there for her. Ellie’s brother Jack has been her rock, her best friend and the one person she will risk EVERYTHING for. Ellie’s story touched my heart. As a parent myself, I struggled with how her parents shoved such a huge burden on her young, twelve-year-old shoulders. Practically her whole life has been dedicated to making Jack’s life easier…without him knowing it. Imagine her horror when her first chance at happiness is at risk because of a deception that started when she was in middle school.
Knox has been solely focused on his football but when Eliot crashes into his world he realises that there is more to life than football. Yes, he’s still dedicated, but now he realises his happiness is complete with football AND Ellie in his life.
Ellie has dedicated so much of her time to Jack because of her love for him but you can tell that there is also a degree of 'begging for approval' from her parents. Every child wants to be loved and accepted but in Ellie's case it was an unattainable goal. When Knox becomes an important part of her life she realises that she needs to make some changes and one of them is facing Jack with the truth of her duplicity.
Knox and Ellie are a perfect match…eventually. We have some dramas that need to be addressed before they can find their happy ever after. I was sucked into their love story from the very first word. Knox is my kind of man. His devotion is never questionable and his love for Ellie shone through with his kind and thoughtful gestures. I loved that, because of her understanding of football and knowledge of the obligations tied to being an elite athlete, Ellie is perfect for Knox. She has her own life, understands that he can’t be with her 24/7 and accommodates his sore muscles by “taking the lead”, “controlling the play” and “riding the bronco” when needed. ;-)
I really enjoyed Sacked. I have come to realise that New Adult (genre) set in a College environment doesn’t seem to send me as bonkers. Maybe it’s the talent of the authors that makes College romance more appealing??? I kind of have a feeling it has more to do with the fact that these young peoples can mix their hi-jinx and shenanigans with dedication to education and sports/music/drama/activites. Unfortunately, when the characters lack direction and purpose the book seems to lack direction and purpose to me too. Sacked gets it right.
Sacked ticked all my boxes by making me smile, squirm, snort and smirk. This was an awesome start to my Gridiron marathon and I’m happy to say that Jockblocked is locked and loaded.

What can i say about this book???
It was an amazing reading with its ups and downs...
I laugh, i cry, i smile, i got sad, angry, mad... but the result is that i absolutely loved it!!!
It wasn't a story that i haven't read before, but the way that it was given was very beautiful and got me hooked...
Yeah, i know... Girl and a football player got in love. What's the new here???
It wasn't anything new, but i still loved this story...
Knox Masters was a rare and very special man...
And not just because he is still a virgin at the age of twenty one or because he is a perfect, worthfull and very popular football player in the campus...
No, my friends! The reasons was neither of them that i liked his personality!!!
Knox was an authentic guy!!! He was breathing for football, he was a team player and a great leader.
He could do anything about his team and the game in general...
He wasn't cocky. Nah, he was a little bit!!!
He was the best player and he knew it but still he cared for the progress of all of his teammates and not only for himself...
He has given too much of himself to his sport... He even refused to himself the joy of sex...
Yeah, he was a virgin and not because he was a shy guy (Cause he is not!!!) or because he wanted to be pure for his future wife (Because he can have every girl that he would desire) but he wanted to be sharp and with clean head to the game...
Because he had some serious goals to concrete...
But something is changing when he meets Ellie...
From the first moment he knew that she was the one for him!!!
(I told you that he is not like all the other guys... His thoughts about sex and love is like a girl's, but he is not a pussy!!! He is a man with big "M"...)
But Ellie is a very difficult goal to reach...

His feelings were pure and he was having a great connection with Ellie. I liked the way he was seeing her... He wanted her and noone else and that was so sweet...

His feelings were pure and he was having a great connection with Ellie. I liked the way he was seeing her... He wanted her and noone else and that was so sweet...

*There was agony for the hidden truths and for the lies that were floating around them...
When the truth revealed my heart ached so badly...
Especially for Knox, because he didn't deserve it at all...
But i was hurting also for Ellie... She did something bad but i understand her reasons why...
I also fell bad about Jack... He didn't deserve it either!!!
"Ellie and I will never be done. Our story is a forever one.
I just need to get everyone on that same page with me, including her."
*There was also much scenes about football games...
I really liked how close were all the guys of the team... They were so tight, like a family...
They didn't work alone but always as a unit and that was awesome...
Finally i want to say that i hated Ellie's parents...
I just don't have any words about their behaviour... Just actions...
I can not wait for the next book in this series...

Warning: Unpopular opinion ahead
Sacked is Jen Frederick's attempt at riding the coattails of the extremely popular NA sports romance series created by Kristen Callihan and Elle Kennedy, Game On and Off Campus respectively. She makes no effort to hide that either, dedicating the book to both these authors and referring to them as her inspiration.
I almost wish she hadn't started with that intro, because that made it all too clear that this book was set to emulate the amazing quality of The Deal or The Hook Up. Does Sacked come close to being as good as the aforementioned books/series? The answer for me is a clear, resounding NO.
Before I'm branded a hater though, let me state the positives. The story in and of itself is decent if you're very much into heroes who are extremely possessive, crazy in love and determined to get the heroine at all costs. That's actually one of my favorite tropes so I appreciated that aspect of the story... to a degree. Unfortunately, I feel that the way the story was executed left much to be desired. But more on that later. One other positive is that the story is competently written and for any football fans out there, there's quite a lot of football talk that shows the author knows her subject very well. She doesn't just use football as a character trait, she revels in it, and talks about it with joyous focus.
The case of the unicorn virgin
Now to the bad. I think Gitte, from Totally Booked Blog said it well. The book centers mainly around the hero being a virgin. I found this to be completely unbelievable. He's a college athlete superstar who for reasons that never seem to quite convince, decides he never wants to engage in any sexual acts whatsoever until he meets "the one". I was actually intrigued by this and went in hopeful that Frederick would somehow pull this already far fetched scenario off. Sadly, I found it contrived. I found myself rolling my eyes and uttering "Oh, please!".
It's not that I think all college superstar athletes are manwhores, or that I want all heroes to be sluts. I just had the hardest time suspending disbelief. The guy is as pure and virginal as they come in an environment completely non-conducive to abstinence. Groupies throwing themselves at him, all his teammates getting it on, being in college with the freedom that entails, plus the adoration of being someone as good as being featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. And to be honest, that whole "well, it's fiction" all purpose excuse just doesn't work with me. Fiction still has to make sense or you're going to lose me. For all these reasons, I dub Knox Masters The Unicorn Virgin. He exists only in the farthest regions of fantasy lalaland where the leprechaun resides.

The insta-love was real with this one. I mean within 4% we have gems such as:
Or the following at 12%. Keep in mind he barely knows the heroine at this point. They've only spoken once.
Nice words but not believable in context. I'm all for crazy in love heroes but this was just plain crazy. Not enough build-up and let's be honest, the build-up is what makes a romance good. I'm all for insta-love. I want my heroes desperately attracted at first sight, but this veered into the creepy weirdo territory for me with how the hero immediately knew he wanted to marry this stranger and grow old with her. He's ready to bestow his golden virginity upon her like a grand offering.
I also immediately hated the MC's names. Eliot for a girl? too far fetched in an attempt at originality. Every time the name came up I cringed. Knox Masters sounds like a porno name. I really really didn't like it. These may be details, but they're important details and they contributed to the disbelief of the story.
As much as I think the side characters were more interesting than the MCs, I feel like there were too many of them making it difficult to follow who was who a lot of the time (too much sequel baiting). I much prefer side characters to be introduced in well measured increments. It felt like too many people cluttering the pages.
All this aside, the book just didn't work for me. I was never emotionally connected to the characters. Knox was too perfect and Eliot was just blah. I didn't find anything special or endearing about her. She was just OK, sort of wishy washy.
The last 20% was the icing on the OTT cake for me. I won't spoil it here, but things took too much of a detour into crazy-town for my taste. Rushed and convoluted doesn't even begin to describe what happens. It's clear it was meant to be romantic. I thought it was awkward at best.
I can't recommend this book unless you've got a desperate craving for something similar to The Deal or The Hook Up, and would settle for a pale imitation of that. Also, I would only recommend this book to people who can suspend disbelief very easily, don't want a single shred of realism in their romances, love multiple football references and absolutely don't mind insta-love.
I would have DNFd but I held on to the hope that somehow the story would redeem itself. I should have known from those early quotes there was just no way. Still I gave it the old college try. I may give the second book in this series a chance, but I'm not exactly chomping at the bit.
It's also noteworthy how many missing words and grammar/spelling mistakes I found, which completely pulled me out of the story over and over again. Two sad, disappointing stars.

Knox Masters has got to be the hottest virgin I've ever read about. I loved his character and the integrity he had, which isn't something you see too much in NA novels. He completely destroyed this genre and set all new goals for my future NA Heroes.
The chemistry between Ellie and Knox was captivating and kept me in suspense the whole book, wondering if their relationship could last with Ellie's secret and Knox's plans for the future. Not many books can keep me guessing, but there were times with this one that I wasn't sure how things would play out, and I enjoyed having those uncertainties.
I put this book off so long because of the whole virgin thing, but that has me kicking myself for being so stupid. Just because Knox was a virgin didn't take away from the heat of the book and the scenes playing out with Ellie and Knox were just as good as any other book with a hot couple. I also liked that the fact he was a virgin was made very realistic. There wasn't any bullshit where we were supposed to believe he was some sex God his very first time.
My only complaint was that I felt kind of meh about Ellie's secret. There were times that I just didn't get the big deal behind everything she was hiding. In a way I could understand, but not fully and that made me a little annoyed the longer Ellie kept the secret and brought it up as a reason her and Knox couldn't last.
Overall, I enjoyed this story very much and I will definitely not be waiting to read anything from this author again. We met a great group of characters in the book so I'm already looking forward to all of their books.

I made it through the holidays (mostly) unscathed, but they were still exhausting, and I'm working up the courage to begin the last leg of my EPIC WoT reread (which I've been avoiding for, oh, four years), so I needed something a little light, a little fun.
This book . . . was exactly what I looking for.
Behold the end results of the very scenario for which the term "meet cute" was coined:
*swoons* *flails*
I won't tell you what happens next (even though it's in the first 5%), b/c it's so adorable your first encounter with it should be first hand.
But before I enumerate all the ways SACKED is the perfect NA read, I'm going to briefly soapbox (b/c NECESSARY).
I have a complicated relationship with my mother. We go without speaking for months at a time on a semi-regular basis, and I could tell tales that, as my grandfather would say, would put hair on your chest.
BUT.
One thing she never, and I mean NEVER, did was criticize my sisters and me about superficial nonsense like our weight. I've never been on an enforced diet of grapefruit and cottage cheese, and I've never been cautioned against pie at Christmas, and I only recently realized how uncommon that is . . . It physically hurts me to think about all the girls who grew up being thoughtlessly, almost offhandedly, emotionally abused this way.
So for those of you with similar parents, it might be too little too late, and from a virtual stranger besides, but I'm here to tell you that it truly is superficial NONSENSE.
My husband grumbles every spring when I lose the extra winter weight I'm always packing, and before I got married I got dumped for girls twice my size. BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.
The world is filled with diverse people with diverse ideas of what "beauty" is.
So tell your hateful mothers (fathers, aunts, brothers, WHOEVER) to shut their yaps and stop spreading all their displaced insecurities around, b/c it's crap and you're done.
ALSO, I had corrective open heart surgery when I was five, and I have a scar that begins at the top of my sternum and ends about three inches above my belly button--MUCH more noticeable than Ellie's scar from her knee surgery--and no one made me feel like I needed to hide that either. Like Ellie, most of the time I don't remember it's there; it's just a part of who I am, like having blue eyes and narrow feet. #ourimperfectionsarewhatmakeusinteresting #keepyourhateanduglinesstoyourselfplease
Don't misunderstand, Frederick does an excellent job of vilifying Ellie's parents, but the body shaming is the least of it, and like I said, this sort of thing has been on mind lately, so here we are.
You're all beautiful, dammit. To hell with anyone who says otherwise.

SO. I don't read much NA romance. Too much angst. Too many clichés.
Too much stupidity, if I'm being honest.
But I've got a short list of authors who don't run headlong into the genre's standard pitfalls (Kristen Callahan and Elle Kennedy), whose books make for excellent brain candy and/or palate cleansers.
Then the two became three.
I'm not saying I never had to willfully suspend disbelief, I'm just saying it was neither often nor difficult.
Frederick took snippets of real life football gossip--the kinds of things that even someone like me can recognize, and football . . . not my thing. I yell, "War eagle!" when I see Auburn insignia on cars or people, but that's out of loyalty to my father and his alma mater, not b/c football, I love it--and combined them with characters who felt way more believable and attainable (b/c YAY, book boyfriends!).
And these guys . . . They're just fun.
Between Matty and Hammer'shilarious serious debates over who would win in a fight: Godzilla or a T-Rex, and the defense discussing how easily they could kill get rid of the competition for the object of another player's affections, I laughed so much that my husband came upstairs demanding to know, "What's all the giggling about?"
And nothing penetrates the fog of Archer for that man. #netflixblinders
And Ellie . . . Some people might initially be put off by how easy she (superficially) has it, especially compared to her roommate, but given the obvious state of her home life, I didn't begrudge her fully paid rent. As she said in that first quote, the assistance comes with a leash.
Beyond that, I liked that her situation was one I hadn't encountered before, which, you know, is HUGE. I mean, really? When's the last time you read a book and the Hurdle blocking the MC's HEA was something you hadn't already seen a dozen variations of? B/c I have no idea when that was for me.
And BONUS, said Hurdle and accompanying Complications were believable. I understood how the whole awful situation began, how it was perpetuated, and why Ellie handled it the way she did when she finally changed her paradigm.
Basically, I loved it.
I repeat, there was a time or three when I deliberately decided to roll with it, but I also repeat, the decision was an easy one, and overall, this is the kind of guilty pleasure I have zero qualms about recommending. Especially if you're a fan of Callahan's GAME ON or Kennedy's OFF-CAMPUS series. I can't wait to see what's next for the men of GRIDIRON. #gowarriors

I am not a huge sports fan, I am a reader. I will openly admit to being that annoying person reading in the stands while my husband cheers on his team. However, I do love sports books, especially on the collegiate level. I love comradery and joking between the teammates. I love the excitement and built in angst of the games and their outcomes. So while, I am not a sports fan, I do love the books! Jen Frederick did an exceptional job with Sacked!
Knox Masters is the man on campus, he is a legend amongst college athletes, big man on campus and a virgin. He isn’t waiting for religious reasons or even the right girl, no he started waiting because he didn’t need the distraction while playing football. Then it just became who he was and he didn’t want to ruin a good thing. That is until he met Ellie.
Ellie isn’t a virgin, she is just a regular girl who is used to living in the shadows of her brother. Jack, Ellie’s brother, is also a football player and Ellie’s best friend. They are super close and always looking out and protecting each other. Ellie doesn’t date football players anymore, so despite her immediate attraction to Knox she is not interested in more.
Ellie and Knox are definitely a case of insta-love, BUT I didn’t even care. Yes, this book is a little cheesy, BUT I didn’t even care. It was also so much freaking fun to read, had me smiling so hard and falling completely in love with the characters. Ellie and Knox make mistakes, but I always felt they had the best of intentions. Together they were the perfect match. Despite her ban on dating players, Ellie is a huge fan of the sport. They had such easy conversation and banter. Ellie understood Knox, my only complaint is Ellie didn’t really give Knox a chance to understand her. I would have liked to have seen her open up and trust him more once their relationship began developing.
Regardless, I obviously highly recommend this read. It’s so much fun, sexy and had tons of five star moments. I loved Knox and Ellie, but I am dying for more from these guys. I am desperately hoping for stories from the other guys!

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Jen Frederick’s writing. I think mainly because whatever trope or theme she decides to turn her writing hand to she does extremely well and with her own unique twist.
This can certainly be said for Sacked with the slew of college based romances centered around the players and the women who eventually tame them out there right now, Jen has once again took a very popular and current storyline and turned it on its head enough to make it all her own.
”You can run… but this campus is too small for you to hide.”
I really liked Knox and Ellie, the author pretty much reversed their positions as to what you would normally expect, especially with a book of this type, in that Knox is the one looking for commitment and a relationship, and Ellie is the one trying to keep things on a casual level. Add into the mix the fact he is a virgin, and this was a book I struggled to put down.
”We don’t get to pick the family we’re born into… But we do get to choose the family we live with. I choose you. You’re all I’ll ever want.”
As the book progresses you find out a few of the reasonings as to why she does this, and again the author managed to keep the delivery of the drama and angst at just the right levels, in that it added to the story developing between them but didn’t detract from its overall direction and flow.
The banter between the guys in the team is another thing that I really enjoyed in this story, Ellie’s brother Jack and her room-mate are also really great additions to the book as well.
"Welcome to disappointment. It's character building."
Knowing that this is the beginning of a series make me all-sorts of happy, Jen has definitely started it in absolutely stellar fashion with Sacked, and I cannot wait to see where she takes the Western State Warriors series next.

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Jen Frederick’s writing. I think mainly because whatever trope or theme she decides to turn her writing hand to she does extremely well and with her own unique twist.
This can certainly be said for Sacked with the slew of college based romances centered around the players and the women who eventually tame them out there right now, Jen has once again took a very popular and current storyline and turned it on its head enough to make it all her own.
”You can run… but this campus is too small for you to hide.”
I really liked Knox and Ellie, the author pretty much reversed their positions as to what you would normally expect, especially with a book of this type, in that Knox is the one looking for commitment and a relationship, and Ellie is the one trying to keep things on a casual level. Add into the mix the fact he is a virgin, and this was a book I struggled to put down.
”We don’t get to pick the family we’re born into… But we do get to choose the family we live with. I choose you. You’re all I’ll ever want.”
As the book progresses you find out a few of the reasonings as to why she does this, and again the author managed to keep the delivery of the drama and angst at just the right levels, in that it added to the story developing between them but didn’t detract from its overall direction and flow.
The banter between the guys in the team is another thing that I really enjoyed in this story, Ellie’s brother Jack and her room-mate are also really great additions to the book as well.

Knowing that this is the beginning of a series make me all-sorts of happy, Jen has definitely started it in absolutely stellar fashion with Sacked, and I cannot wait to see where she takes the Western State Warriors series next.

Ohhhh Myyyy Gooddddd...... What a goodie... Thumbs up from Katy.
If you know me you'll know 1. Sports Romance and 2. College Romances are both my guilty pleasures. 9 out of 10 times I will enjoy the ride these stories give me, not that its EVERY time but it is the norm. This was no different, not only because of the genre but because of the story plus the writing geesh I enjoyed it all.
So what's it about?
Knox Masters is the Best and he's the Quarterback of his college team. He's looked at as powerful, in charge of his life, of his team, of HIS FIELD.. He puts his teams first, his brother, he's in control of all aspects of his life apart from that he's a virgin yep you got it a virgin he's never met the 'One' to let go with. He doesn't do the man whore thing like his team mates, he wanted to find that special person and here he is in his final year still a Virgin that is until he bumps in Elliot.
Elliot is the sister of Jack Campbell who has just been transferred to play in Knox's team. Whereas Knox is in control of his life and his game, Ellie is in control of Jacks life more-so than her own.
So lets discuss the Insta-love. Some find that off putting and too much and yes there is that but for me it didn't bother me. Purely because there was a mature feel to the story and it wasn't just about the sex but more so about life and settling down.
Although there are intriguing, senusal and toe curling moments.
There also was some seriously fun moments between brothers... bonding and Knox was in the midst of it all.... he knew how to lure Ellie in, how to seduce her in His Own Way.
Bahaha yes his own foolish wayssss.
The middle for me though was a lull. It was a gradual slow developed story, when I say that I mean Jen sure knows about football and for an English Gal like myself who doesn't really enjoy football because it is soccer here, and that bores me no end to be frank. I digress what I'm saying is it was good to know some of the specifics of the game that was a sort of lesson such as slapping their teams arses really? I was like WHAT?? then I'm wow this is for team spirit and for team unity.
But what I'm trying to say here is that this story is about living and life. About how a team is built. How they gradually go through the stages of the game and how they gain the respect they deserve.
Ellie is as knowledgeable of football as much as Knox is, so their story was sooo much more if you look a little deeper.
What I loved
Ellie hasn't the best family, aside from her brother she was on her own so what I really LOVED was the family element of the plot and how much this isn't just about the kind of family your born into but more so about the kind of family you find yourself enveloped in.
Above all this is a great beginning and setup for this series, I really LOVED Jens writing style and how she slowly built the story up, how she gradually let you know and feel bits. How it had everything in it, it was fun, sexy, emotional.
I'm looking forward to how she'll take this and here's hoping Jack will get his own story I have a soft spot for him.

4.5 stars- V H football player that sees the h and knows she’s the one?
2023 reread sigh. I forgot how much I loved this. I didn’t like the audiobook narrators 😬. The male narrator sounded older than Knox’s age 😅. The female narrator sounded older too. I found that I was annoyed by all the ow mentions this time- as in, what Knox has seen and what his teammates do; good thing he’s a virgin 👏🏻 lol. I still loved him and how devoted and dedicated he was to Ellie ❤️.
I’m in! I know. I know. Hard to believe right? How the heck is a football god a v, a man that’s coveted and wanted left and right? Shoot, I was asking myself the same damn thing. All I know is I want a Knox in my life… he might’ve been new in the sheets, but he quickly figured out how to master every aspect of it🔥🔥🔥.
Knox’s (21) team captain for a reason. He eats, breathes, lives football- and he wants no distractions, which is why he’s managed to remain a v so long. One day during his routine 5 am workouts at the stadium, he sees someone else there. They don’t exchange names, but the chemistry ignites as soon as they’re near each other. A little competition shows how athletic this girl is, and a scar on her knee proves she’s gone through her own battles as well. She ends up leaving and he never finds out her name.
Ellie‘s (20/21) brother plays with Knox. She recently transferred as a junior and is being forced by her mother to help her brother succeed in his classes. One of the rules that she abides by is to never date a football player, especially if it’ll interfere with her brother’s football journey. But Knox isn’t going to let her to stop them from being more than just friends. She’s the one for him, the one that he’s been waiting for, and nothing’s going to prevent them from happening.
Omg the tension 🥵 the chemistry 😅 the connection is 🔥. From the first time they meet, it’s crackling heat as soon Knox and Ellie are in the same room 💦. The first time they dance together was 🥵🥵🥵… and then when he says he needs to use the restroom, we all know why he went. And then Ellie walks in… and… oh. My. God 😅💦. The dirty mouth of him is absolutely scrumptious 😉🔥. Jeeezus… are you sure you’re a v? Cause there are manhoars out there that could use a lesson or two from you 🥵. Even though his first time finally happens at about 61%, all the appetizers beforehand was cigarette-break worthy 💦. Their first kiss at a BOOKSTORE was delicious… yes Knox, you know how to get a girl going, especially when you’re holding a book she wants as hostage. Well played 😉👏🏻.
What else I appreciated in this book was how much information the author has on football. I found myself asking my hubby a few questions lol, obviously this shows that the author knows a lot on how college and professional football works. Plus, the repercussions and penalties for mistakes, etc were well-researched.
Also, I liked the “test” that Knox and his twin brother had in place and how easily Ellie passed each time. I found myself smiling at some of them, especially when they do the last one in the book 😉.
Although this isn’t a romcom, I totally giggled and snorted here and there. The BANTER between Knox and Ellie was completely genuine- which added to their intense chemistry.
Annnnnd… I enjoyed the side characters (except the manwhore teammate 😑). I wish we got books on all of them lol. I see the twin brother gets one (book 4). Gah. I can’t wait to see Ty 👀.
Overall, I loved it!

Meh!!! Frankly, it was hard for the book to recover when the beginning started like this:
It did get better and the team mates seem like a fun bunch. Knox was a nice character. Can't say I liked nor disliked Ellie. But then the last 20%? I found quite ridiculous to be honest.
This does have a similar feel to The Deal and The Hook Up, so no doubt it will be a hit with loads of readers, just felt meh for me.

Ellie just transferred college to be next to her brother, who is starting in the football team. She’s hiding something so she’s trying to pass unnoticed, but she doesn’t escape the attention of Knox, college star and football team biggest promise.
He never felt the need of having anyone but for some reason he’s set on having Ellie… except that she keeps running from him. But this time, Knox is decided to win.
The story itself was a usual NA book featuring a girl with some secrets and a football star. It was sweet, emotional at moments and sexy. The writing was engaging and flowed easily and the virgin hero twist gave a refreshing side to a not-so-original premise.
Still, if you like NA books with athletes, *raises hands*, this sweet and romantic book will definitely make the cut.
Rating: 4 Stars.

Her “back and forth” and decisions were sometimes frustrating. Knox was a really sweet guy and the fact he was a virgin was a nice twist, although not completely believable. But he was sexy, had a nice sense of humor and I liked him. Some of Knox team mates were nice and I will definitely read their books, but I do hope Knox’s twin brother gets his own book.

I know I can't judge a book by his cover but holy smokes this one called me right away. And let me tell you the story is as sweet as that's guy's abs
When I started reading Sacked I wasn't sure I was in the mood for a college sports book but the story has grown on me fast.
There's one element that almost made me roll my eyes and I want to talk about it immediately so we are done and over with: The insta-love.
I know it's a huge problem for most readers but please reconsider and keep reading.
Jen Frederick made an incredible job, IMO, to make it so natural, so believable that at the end it won't bug you that much.
“We didn’t fall for each other. We fell into each other, and now we’re carrying each other forward into our perfect future. I can’t wait to spend every tomorrow with you.”
Knox is not interested in girls. His only goal is winning the championship with his teammates. Girls are no distraction for him, he is not a manwhore... he is a virgin.
That was a shocking revelation for me. I've never read a book where the male character was a virgin at 21. And it was really refreshing.
The author gives us an insight on why he decides to wait and it was perfectly natural to him.
What's even better is that when he sees Ellie he doesn't change his mind all of a sudden. He is willing to wait and make things right.
"I could be the first one to have his tongue between my legs. I could be the first to watch his eyes roll back in his head as I swallow him as deeply as possible. I could be the first one to take him inside my body. Being the first is more potent a drug than I’d realized."
Knox is a charming character. Even if he's well known for what he represents, Ellie made him feel as himself when she is around. And that's the type of relation he is looking for.
No questions are made to how much he wants Ellie to be a part of his life.
When you meet the girl who’ll be sitting on the front porch holding your hand when you’re eighty, you don’t let a thing like cool dismissive looks, big brothers, or fucking rules stand in your way.
Ellie, on her side, doesn't want anything to do with a football player. Her brother is one and she doesn't want to interfere if something bad happens. Moreover she already had that kind of situation and it didn't end well.
The relation between Ellie and Know never seems too rushed despite the "love at first sight". They both learn who they are, what they want and how to really love each other.
Sacked was also very funny. I had a grin on my face for the most part.
The story is also a little angsty. From 70 % until 95 %, I was on my toes. I knew this book was the kind with an HEA but I didn't know how it will turn out. Despite the fact that to me it was a bit too rushed, the end was just perfect for Knox and Ellie.

A little bit of cheesy, over the top goodness ... perfect for the the mood I was in.
As per my usual style, I jumped into this book without even a peek at the synopsis. In fact, this book wasn't even on my radar. Leave it to my bestie Foxy to talk me into another book ;) and thanks to Alleskelle who kindly gifted it through her blog - it's a fun buddy read :D
I've never read a Jen Frederick book before (hiding in shame), but I can guarantee that this won't be my last.
I really enjoyed the playful nature that this book started out with. And having a leading man who's a virgin & saving it for the right woman? Well, I found that to be quite refreshing & even a little sexy (I won't even try to lie about this ... it kinda turned me on - lol).
Even when the angst kicked in, I still found myself smiling ... probably because I knew it would all turn out okay. It is a romance novel, after all. But, I did find some of the angst to be just a little melodramatic (or maybe a lot). And, yes there were definitley some very cheesy moments.
Overall, an enjoyable, light romp, perfect for those days when you just want to relax & not take things to seriously.

4 Cashing in the Card Stars
There are some things you are born knowing: Treat your mother with respect. Family comes first. Bringing down a quarterback is as close to a religious experience as a boy can get. When you meet the girl who’ll be sitting on your front porch holding your hand when you’re eighty, don’t let a thing like cool dismissive looks, big brothers, or fucking rules stand in your way.
Well, I have to start off by saying that even though I’ve read a whole lot of Jen Frederick’s books and enjoyed them all, this one still came as a pleasant surprise. I don’t know, maybe I need a bit of an NA break because lately it feels like I’m reading the same story over and over again. Misunderstood bad boy with a lifetime of pain already experienced by the tender age of 23 meets booksmart but naïve as f**k virgin with a killer rack. Been there, got the t-shirt. So when I found out Sacked featured something a little different I couldn’t start it fast enough.
Why is it so hard to do what I should do instead of what I want to do? Maybe the better question is: Why do I want things that are bad for me? Because there’s no question that Knox Masters is bad for me.
Knox Masters is one of the best college football players in the country. He’s smart, he’s healthy and he’s decided to strap on the chastity belt until he finds the one.
”I didn’t wait for religious reason,” he informs me. “I waited because if I wanted physical release, I had my hand. I wanted the right girl.”
And a collective hush falls over the crowd. Seriously, that’s pretty damn sexy! His virginity is the stuff of legend and more than one (or 100) girls have tried to break the seal. I loved the idea of a hot as hell jock with every opportunity in the world to cash in his card but choosing not to take advantage of it.
Ellie Campbell is a junior transfer and the sister of Knox’s new teammate. She’s had some horrible luck in the past dating her brother’s teammates so she’s developed a hard and fast rule against any sexy time activities with anyone her brother happens to share a locker room with. See where this is headed?
”I’m all for exploring new shit, but guys are dicks regardless of whether they wear a jock strap or a pocket protector.”
I liked almost everything about Sacked. It was cute as hell and gave me a breather from the heavy, angst ridden NA romances that seem to reproduce like rabbits on my Goodreads feed. That’s not to say serious situations weren’t included. Ellie’s relationship with her douchebag parents isn’t a good one, but the close relationship and solidarity she had with her brother helped smooth that out. And I loved how Knox just knew Ellie was going to be the one to make him a MAN. Let the dirty talking, dry humping, I didn’t mean to interrupt you masturbating but I'm not sorry scenes begin.
On the other hand I didn’t love that Knox knew Ellie was going to be the one immediately. Yes, it’s two faced of me but there it is. I didn’t hate it exactly, but if instalove aint your thing this may not work for you. And while I loved almost everything about Knox, I never really connected with Ellie. While I appreciate her loyalty at all costs to her brother and she did seem like a super keen chick, I kind of remained indifferent to her for some reason.
At the end of the day I’m so happy I discovered what I hope is a new and long running series. I can think of at least three books based on characters featured in Sacked I’d love to read if given the chance. That’s a not so subtle hint, Ms. Frederick.

Misunderstood bad boy with a lifetime of pain already experienced by the tender age of 23 meets booksmart but naïve as f**k virgin with a killer rack. Been there, got the t-shirt. So when I found out Sacked featured something a little different I couldn’t start it fast enough.
Why is it so hard to do what I should do instead of what I want to do? Maybe the better question is: Why do I want things that are bad for me? Because there’s no question that Knox Masters is bad for me.
Knox Masters is one of the best college football players in the country. He’s smart, he’s healthy and he’s decided to strap on the chastity belt until he finds the one.
”I didn’t wait for religious reason,” he informs me. “I waited because if I wanted physical release, I had my hand. I wanted the right girl.”
And a collective hush falls over the crowd. Seriously, that’s pretty damn sexy! His virginity is the stuff of legend and more than one (or 100) girls have tried to break the seal. I loved the idea of a hot as hell jock with every opportunity in the world to cash in his card but choosing not to take advantage of it.
Ellie Campbell is a junior transfer and the sister of Knox’s new teammate. She’s had some horrible luck in the past dating her brother’s teammates so she’s developed a hard and fast rule against any sexy time activities with anyone her brother happens to share a locker room with. See where this is headed?
”I’m all for exploring new shit, but guys are dicks regardless of whether they wear a jock strap or a pocket protector.”
I liked almost everything about Sacked. It was cute as hell and gave me a breather from the heavy, angst ridden NA romances that seem to reproduce like rabbits on my Goodreads feed. That’s not to say serious situations weren’t included. Ellie’s relationship with her douchebag parents isn’t a good one, but the close relationship and solidarity she had with her brother helped smooth that out. And I loved how Knox just knew Ellie was going to be the one to make him a MAN. Let the dirty talking, dry humping, I didn’t mean to interrupt you masturbating but I'm not sorry scenes begin.
On the other hand I didn’t love that Knox knew Ellie was going to be the one immediately. Yes, it’s two faced of me but there it is. I didn’t hate it exactly, but if instalove aint your thing this may not work for you. And while I loved almost everything about Knox, I never really connected with Ellie. While I appreciate her loyalty at all costs to her brother and she did seem like a super keen chick, I kind of remained indifferent to her for some reason.
At the end of the day I’m so happy I discovered what I hope is a new and long running series. I can think of at least three books based on characters featured in Sacked I’d love to read if given the chance. That’s a not so subtle hint, Ms. Frederick.

I am normally not the girl to read a book because the abs on the cover make my libido kick up a couple notches, but when Dino-Jess started chatting about the perks of abs in all their splendor I found myself unable to resist.

One of the things you need to know about me is that while I am somewhat of a romantic I am also a huge commitment phob. Probably one of the only reasons The Beast has been able to shackle me down for 2+ years is because our relationship has never felt proprietary. He’s not really one to glare down a guy for talking to me or psychologically take a piss on my leg. This is good, I wouldn’t tolerate that. I cannot say that Knox Masters isn’t like that, it would be a boldface lie.
Possessiveness is one of my single biggest turnoffs, thankfully it isn’t one of Eliot Campbell’s.
Knox Masters is the golden boy of the Warriors. He’s beautiful, he’s dedicated and incredibly skilled at the game. He’s also a virgin. I have this issue with all the virgin playout in romantic books today, why’s there always got to be a fucking virgin?? WHY?? And while I enjoyed the trope swap of it being the guy versus the girl here, I still think it was unnecessary. Frederick could have shown us that Knox wasn’t a stereotyped player football star without making him a virgin. However, overall I liked Knox, he could be incredibly sweet and considerate when he wasn’t being stalkerish and possessive.
Eliot “Ellie” Campbell is the daughter her father didn’t want. She has spent her life being considered a second class citizen by her father and catering to her brother, Jack’s academic needs. Ellie and I; we have some issues. I really didn’t like her creation at all. She reads like one gigantic afterschool special trope.
Daddy issues: check
Mommy issues: check
Insecurity: check
Moronic logic system: check
However, overall this story worked, it was cute and fluffy. And while the last 20% was so disgustingly sweet I think I need to go to the dentist and check for cavities, I did believe their connection. And that’s really what it takes for me to like a romance, I need to feel that they would actually work off the page and I think Knox and Ellie would.
There is one final issue I need to address and advise on; Sacked has one of the most insane situations of insta-love *boo-hiss* I have ever read. I can’t even with that bullshit, no!
If you are hunting for a romantic (I think this is NA, isn’t it – I don’t even understand this genre at all.) story that’s hugely readable and fun, Sacked may be just what you’re looking for.

I REALLY LOVED IT...
maybe it's because I am a bit emotional BUT it suited me just right!
this was the first book I have read by Jen Frederick and it won't be that last either!
Light, sweet, romantic, a bit angsty, a bit of drama, funny read that made me realize it why I actually like my sportmen as book boyfriends LOL

I loved the story - it wasn't revolutionary (it had reversed roles than what you are usually used to reading in these types of books so that was refreshing) but it was light, funny and romantically sweet. AWWWW

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The only reason for my four star rating was that it focused a lot on football; which I will praise the author for seeming to know her facts about the sport...but I'm not a big sports fan..So for me, I would tend to get a glazed look in my eye and want to start skimming when we were getting a commentary of the game going on. I have to admit though, that towards the end, the author did a brilliant job of capturing the excitement and adrenaline that all of the athletes were feeling while anticipating their game. The writing was so well done, I felt as though I was the one awaiting to play!
I really enjoyed the relationship Ellie and Knox! Knox was an absolute sweetheart; he truly was...Oh, and he was a virgin; which to me just added that unique element to this story that had me really excited to read it! I will admit though, that there were certain times in the story where it got to be just a little too sweet. There was also a specific part in the story where it was becoming very far fetched and unrealistic..
I don't mean to come across negative though. I would highly recommend this book to any lover of romance. It is just a great feel good book, with a ton of very hot and sweaty sex thrown in. Knox may start as a virgin; but believe me...he catches on really quick, and delivers some very hot and dirty sex to Ellie!!!
Another thing that I would love to mention is the comraderie amongst the team. The loyalty, and friendship between all of the guys was something that just made me fall In love with all of them!
All in all, a great read and I can't wait for further books in this series!
