I have really high hopes about this book because of the glowing reviews I've been seeing here on Goodreads so why not give it go? I was seriously praying for this book to humor me because I had a bad day but here's to hoping. Did I read the same book as they did?? Because I did not enjoy it at all! I've never read such an immature main character in my life and India Savage is suppose to be older than me. I get it she's a rock chick, she's suppose to be breaking the rules, put on a lot of swagger, be hot and flirty but there is also such thing as common sense. For crying out loud she's been kidnapped THRICE because she's operating based on her stupid instincts, I cannot for the life of me find her funny or badass at all!
Seriously the book tried to make me laugh but it's not getting any other that this face.

It's just too much, I didn't know why I held on for so long to finish this book. Maybe because of Lee Nightingale, alpha males get me excited for no reason and I don't know what's worse; reading about an annoying MC or read about the man who got the hots for that annoying MC. I swear I died a little every time I turn a page, excruciatingly!!! and when I was finished I was burning in hell! I can't believe I've put up with this book....more

I know ... I know .... You'll probably hate me for this but I like the the last book better. When Paper Princessended with a cliffhanger, I already formulated some scenarios; That I hope Reed cheated, Ella will get her revenge, then Reed will grovel until he's dead but that didn't happen in this sequel. Instead I had to bear reading the drama unfolding by reading Reed's unsavory POV. I was happy with Ella's POV alone I just wish it stayed that way but I guess it will be difficult judging from where the story is headed. I really don't know what to make of the asshats and bitchy rich kids, as well as the cougars who blackmails hot young men. I really got tired of the same drama but Erin Watt [a.k.a Elle Kennedy/Jen Frederick] really do know how to keep the pacing of the book and engage the readers.
Thankfully there's Easton and Val to keep me entertained and another addition is Wade, I think he's adorable even though he's a manwhore. I'm not gonna lie, this book kept me up late. It's engaging enough scratch that, this book is addicting but I really can't ignore the fact that it slut shames women and glorifies bullying.
Am I gonna read the next book? hmmm yeah I think so, because that cliffhanger is evil....more

You know what, the sequel Fire Falling was amazing for me, it had the right element to make it interesting, I really like Vhalla and Aldrik and the romance there had just the right balance in the story but oh my gods by the mother sun THIS book was all about romance!!!. ... I just got sick of it!
Today, they would draw a line in the sand. On one side, they would stand, on the other, the Emperor and her death.
The start was really good, and I was hoping to know more about the other characters. I was expecting to know about Jax because he's interesting. Really!!! I think Elise Kova failed to give credit to the secondary characters and just focus on the fuckin romance, come on! What about the friendship and war strategies? There's not much going on until the last fifty pages of the book. And what about Vhalla being the beacon of hope and victory? More like a beacon of hope for Aldrik?!
It's just not enough and it's infuriating because I LOVE ALDRIK so much and it broke my heart to read all the hateful words he uttered, I immensely HATE the Emperor for being one step ahead of their plans. *insert tantrums here*. But I still believe this series will get better, given the ending of this book I think it has a shot for redemption, I just hope that Elise Kova will focus more on other things like explaining more about the knights of Jadar, the crystal axe, more glimpse on Vi the fortune teller, more interactions with secondary characters, a balance romance and fixing the mess she made with Aldrik! because seriously I just can't take the all consuming sappy romance that made the book lost its depth....more

I just want to see if some books are unique or fun to read ... This book was intended to be hilarious, I was up for some comedy in my romance books but I did not find it funny ... Awww too bad, I really loved Fight club and I was really looking forward to find some grit in this novel, sadly all I’ve read were a parody of porn titles and porn slangs that made me uncomfortable but I must say that it’s a bold move for Chuck Palahniuk to write a novel about Porn.
“Six hundred dudes. One porn queen. A world record for the ages. A must-have movie for every discerning collector of things erotic.”
Yes that’s right!!! I must say the premise really caught me. To write about how the porn industry works and as to why it never gets old, in fact it’s a growing industry. In this novel not only women are objectified and exploited but also men, it points out the psychological aspect of the people who ended up in such business, it talks about social issues such abuse, rape and rejection. Chuck had the right elements to make this novel work but disappointingly his execution fell short of what I was hoping for and focused more on making sure he had enough porn titles we should know about… Chuck I get it okay!?!...more

This book was a struggle for me to read starting from chapter 2. I was really disappointed because it has a very promising start. This novel revolves around Greek mythology, gods and their minions who are after the Sphinx because they are known to be a monster; a cursed creature but also a human. The concept is compelling enough to let you dive into this world however the execution failed to impress me instead it left me bored with a headache.
I wanted it to have a back story where the world or setting is explained; I assumed that it was set in the modern world where people were not aware that gods, demigods and other mythological creatures exist for real and that the students were just having their lessons in mythology. It turns out that People are indeed aware that these mythological gods exist and I only known that when I was about 48% done with my reading. I was so confused and frustrated about that detail because it's essential in the world building.
I also wanted to know why the Sphinx is cursed and why the gods wanted them dead even though there was a prequel novella but it helps to let readers refresh their history. The build-up was really slow and just when it has something going on it abruptly stops. It was really killing me and I feel that Hope, our main character has a Bella Swan vibe in her. I wanted to love her but I hated her even more. Sorry ya’ll!
Another thing is the romance. I love some romance in my books but here it’s just feels so forced, it all feels so cliché and there is no chemistry between Athan and Hope. I was really hoping the romance might stir my frustrations away but it only adds up. This book has a lot of clutter and the ending didn’t even leave an impression. I hope it gets better for the sequel though.
