OMG, same. Everyone loves ASOIAF and I once tried to read it and put it down quickly because of this one character. I only want to know how he'll wrap it all up and what happens to this character and then decide again, so please please finish it. =(

Better to answer through his solid, good work than through lame blog-posts, though! Good things take time.

Or simply by giving us a release date. Even if it's two years from now. At least we'd know it's coming.

But we Do know it's coming, don't we? Although the date is unknown, the fact remains a fact. Besides, when was the last time GRRM announced a release date and delivered on time?
"Patience you must have."
"Winter is coming."

He most probably has a contact with HBO to not release it until the show is over. There is no more reasonable explanation
Since he is probably give another path to the books than the series everybody thinks that WoW is gonna until the show is over, follow some paths of the show but taking it further, i want a release date, pleaseeeee just that!
It's just extremely amusing how the people on goodreads become wild and everybody's demanding Winds of Winter :D

Do we really, though? I'm not so sure. And also, I'm tired of waiting.

I doubt that it will come in 2019 either.

I hope this means WoW is written and ready to go as soon as GoT is over.

Yeah but I mean it's been ages since the last book was released.

I haven't been waiting as long admittedly, since I only finished the last book in december. I might also be a bit of too history nerdy to say no to a book about Targaryen history.
For me the ASOIAF fandom is still a bit strange.
But seen from my perspective, I'd rather have a good and satisfying ending that one that get's slammed into your face.

I meant it in the sense, that I'm glad he doesn't carelessly churn out his book within the time plan just ot have it finished, but wants to publish it when it's finished.

He has lost his way. Instead of finishing the last few books George Martin spends his time on this two book version of the anthology of the Targareons. Who cares. Zero plot line. Bored out of my tree. Will not be buying the second installment.

Yeah people don't seem to be liking this series very much

Agreed, looks like GRRM won’t finish the books , The story has appeared to spiral out of control, GRRM has told HBO how the story ends hence HBO will finish it for him .

I hope that's not the case but I wouldn't be surprised

I gave up on WoW.. I think he is angry and stubborn about the HBO show and has no joy or energy to write this book and the others.. and it's better this way, because now IF he ever releases it, I will be nicely surprised, instead of this horrible waiting.
He keeps going off on so many writing tangents I'm starting to worry we'll never see the last book... at least the show will confirm/disprove the theories. Still rather have read them first George. Sigh. Oh well!

It certainly looks like that but I still hope that he will publish them in the foreseeable future

Well the show took lots of different turns plotwise compared to the book. So I think that when/if we ever get to read the sequels, they will hold a lot of surprises.

Yeah. This!
I actually have theories what's going to happen differently from the show.

I have no doubt he’s entered into some agreement with HBO to wait and publish his book after the series is over. They’ve likely settled on a mutually agreed upon date(probably 6 months or so, just in time for Christmas) after the end of the series and voila! the book is suddenly finished and available for your purchase!
Neither probably want the others product to affect the viewer’s/ reader’s opinions of their own.

Sounds like a good theory but really, it could be so many different things. I hope we'll be able to read it soon but I'm not going to bet on it
