Last night, Cardi B lent her support to Kamala Harris, appearing at a Milwaukee rally in her signature outspoken way.
The rapper made a bold entrance at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Center, where she walked onstage to her hit “Bodak Yellow.” For the occasion, she looked all business in a white wrap minidress, which flaunted bow accents on its cuffs. Pronounced shoulders and thick lapels gave the garment an ‘80s feel, and Cardi leaned into the look with matching white gloves and white pumps. She wore her hair in an elegant updo and opted for a full glam with fluttery lashes and a brown glossy lip.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment my whole life,” Cardi told the crowd. “I do not take lightly the call to show up, the call to speak up, the call to deliver a message that’s been on my heart a hot minute now.” She went on to speak about why she plans to support Harris in the election, and rebuked her Republican opponent, Donald Trump.
“Just like Kamala Harris, I too have been the underdog, I’ve been underestimated, my success belittled and discredited,” Cardi continued. “Let me tell you something: Women have to work ten times harder, perform ten times better, and still people question us, how we got to the top. I can’t stand a bully, but just like Kamala, I always stand up to one.”
Cardi said she “did not have faith” in any of the presidential candidates until Harris joined the race—even admitting that she was not planning on voting this year until Harris “changed her mind completely.” She then turned her attention back to Trump: “Did you hear what Donny Trump said the other day? … He says he’s going to protect women whether they like it or not.”
She continued, “Well, if his definition of protection is not the freedom of choice, if his definition of protection is making sure our daughters have fewer rights than our mothers, then I don’t want it!”
