Lisa lit up the stage at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday night with her first-ever solo performance at the annual show.

The Blackpink member performed a high-energy mash-up of her two latest solo singles, “Rockstar” and “New Woman.” For the performance, the K-pop star channeled her edgier side and opted for a custom Chrome Hearts look that included a red leather corset and fringe miniskirt with knee-high platform boots, in which she strutted along the stage with her crew of dancers. There was plenty of chair choreo, hip shimmying, and hairography to rile up the room.

Earlier in the night, Lisa stepped out on the VMAs carpet in a more angelic look, wearing a custom Mugler nude-toned, hooded gown with a gold Bulgari Serpenti necklace. It’s safe to say the singer was playing with heaven-and-hell references for her red-carpet and onstage looks.

Lisa recently opened up to Elle about gearing up for her first official solo album, embracing her inner rock star, and the newfound confidence that has come as she has stepped into her own musically.

“Lately, I feel more confident of what I think, and say it out loud,” she told the outlet last month. “I think what I’ve learned from last time is me, myself, saying what I like and what I don’t like. I think that’s the most important. Because if I say, ‘Ah, it’s okay,’ [people] don’t know—like, am I really okay with it? So I have to be able to say ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ Not in between.”
