Emily will continue her Roman holiday in season five.

In season four, Emily leaves Paris for Rome in order to start a new office for Agence Grateau. In the process, she begins a new love story with a handsome Italian man named, Marcello Muratori, played by actor Eugenio Franceschini.

Star confirmed to Tudum that Emily's Roman escapades will continue into season five. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” he said. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”

Star's intention in taking Emily out of Paris was to “stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,” as well as to prove that “the show has the ability to have a bigger footprint.”

Season five will explore another love triangle.

During an appearance on Good Morning America, Collins confirmed that Emily's Italian love interest reflects a new side of her character. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she said, per Tudum. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Star added, “I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”

As for Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), the hot French chef and Emily's on-and-off love interest? The two ended season four with Gabriel officially cutting off their romance—although he still ultimately wants to be with the marketing executive. “Unfortunately, Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice,” Collins said.
