This movie was directed by J. Lee Thompson, whose previous credits included the classics The Guns of Navarone and Cape Fear (not to mention Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Battle for the Planet of the Apes). In the second episode of Netflix’s Painkiller, two sales representatives (West Duchovny and Dina Shihabi) call in on various doctors’ offices to push a pill that promises to reduce pain and enhance quality of life. Like all good sales reps, they come bearing gifts, among them a cute stuffed toy in the shape of a pill, a recurring motif throughout the series meant to represent danger disguised as something innocuous. The drug in question is OxyContin, and the sales reps work for Purdue Pharma, the company that, under the ownership of the now infamous Sackler family, marketed the opioid to millions of Americans to devastating results.
The plot unfolds as Edie Flowers (Uzo Aduba), a jaded state investigator, recounts her findings to the lawyers trying to build a case against the Sacklers. The series attempts to address every possible angle of the scandal, from the company that created the drug,...

Fifteen-year-old Cassidy Stay is a survivor of incomprehensible tragedy. Her former uncle Ron Lee Haskell went on a shooting rampage in her family's home in Spring, TX., that left her parents and four siblings dead. Stay, who survived because she pretended to be dead after being grazed by a bullet, gave an incredibly moving speech at her family's memorial that quoted the beloved headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumblebore.
"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light," Stay told more than 400 people assembled for the memorial. Soon after, a Facebook page sprang up called "We want Jk Rowling to Meet Cassidy Stay," which later passed on the news that J.K. Rowling sent a letter to Cassidy "from" Dumbledore.
A spokesperson to Rowling told The Houston Chronicle, "We can confirm that J.K. Rowling did indeed send a personalized letter to Cassidy Stay.

Alliance Films will release the dramatic thriller Afghan Luke into theatres September, 2011. The film involves two journalists sent to the remote country of Afghanistan in search of a story on Canadian snipers gone bad. What they find is a story on hashish production instead. Then, they get too close to their subject and mayhem ensues, as suggested by the film's first poster. Nick Stahl (Mirrors 2), Colin Cunningham ("Falling Skies") and Torrance Coombs ("The Tudors") are some of the principal cast members starring and those who enjoy war torn thrillers can have a closer look at this title when it releases in a limited fashion through Alliance Films late in September.
The synopsis for Afghan Luke is here:
"Disheartened when his story about Canadian snipers who are possibly mutilating corpses of enemy Afghan combatants is buried, Luke quits his job but is even more determined to return to Afghanistan to...

Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) drive to cover a story in the boonies and Lois realizes she can't cover the anti-hero rally story, which will go to Cat Grant who'll get the front page. Lois questions Clark about all the strange incidents that she came across, which Clark puts down to being Kryptonian, such as the spaceship she found, which belonged to Kara. Lois is also into the whole Clark being an alien thing, "it's like dating a god." Thought she was into him for him, not his powers! The car gets a flat tyre which Clark can't fix and has to walk to town. Lois befriends a girl, Charlotte (Bella King) and stays behind with her. Charlotte dressed in bonnet and 'old worldly' clothes which were a big giveaway. Okay well if not for the clothes then the horse and buggy, but she's happy to ride along with her.
