Graduated in Film Studies and Communication at Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado, São Paulo - Brazil in 2001.
Since College he has always pointed his career towards cinematography, working in all short films and various projects of his colleagues as he could.
Maurício worked up all the ranks in the camera department. By doing that, he got the chance to work with some great cinematographers and directors both Brazilian and from all over the globe. By participating in hundreds of different productions, features, TV, commercials, documentaries, he learned his craft to later become a director of photography.
With a passion for images, he discovered the importance of lighting and camera operation in order to tell a story. How important it is to find the best approach for each particular project, always in pair with the director.
Maurício has developed his work in many film formats, such as: commercials, fiction, documentaries, music videos and corporate videos.
His commercial credits includes renowned brands like Ford, IntelBras, Boticário, Land Rover, Amway, Accord, Absolut and Stella Artois.
Among his latest fiction projects we can highlight the feature film "Borderline" directed by Cibele Amaral. Aside to that, the TV series: "O Negócio" (HBO Brasil), "Unidade Básica" 1st and 2nd seasons (Universal Channel), "Edifício Paraíso" (GNT) and "A Garota da Moto" (SBT)
Also he shot the additional photography for Rodrigo Bernardo's feature film "Maybe a Love Story" and "A Voz do Silêncio" directed by André Ristum. And has shot the 2º units for "Comédia Divina" directed by Toni Venturi. Finally, he has worked in documentaries for History Home and Health, Science Channel, and Discovery Channel.
Most recently, he just wrapped shooting the full length documentary called "Saudades" directed by the new yorker photographer Neal Slavin.
Maurício is currently living in Lisbon. He may be considered for work as a local both in Portugal and in Brazil.
