Lloyd Lee Choi is a Korean-Canadian writer/director living in Brooklyn. His short film, Same Old (2022), was an official selection at the 75th Cannes Film Festival as part of the main competition, the only US film to be accepted in the line-up of 9 films. It has gone on to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival (Special Jury Mention), Melbourne International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and Seminci. Same Old also won 1st place at the 2022 HBOmax APA Visionaries awards. He is currently developing a feature film based off the short.
Lloyd's recent short film, Closing Dynasty (2022), was supported through the Future Gold Film Fellowship, being 1 of 3 filmmakers selected by Netflix, Tribeca, and Gold House.
Lloyd was also named 30-under-30 by Marketing Magazine and has directed global campaigns for brands like Google, Chevrolet, Sony, and Nat Geo. He balances his work slate with socially conscious projects, writing and directing short films and PSA's for ACLU, Zappos, AARP, and Stress Health. Passionate about representation in front and behind the camera, he is deeply driven to highlight the minority and immigrant experience - one rich with new and compelling stories to tell. Stories that reflect the real world around us.
