Stevie Helps was born and raised in South East London. The son of a handyman and a checkout worker, Stevie has four brothers and two sisters. He began training as an actor at The Miskin Theatre in Dartford (2004). He moved to York in 2006 to study Performing arts at university. His first TV credit came in 2008, the role of Marcus in Heartbeat.
