Born in Santander (June, 1987). Lives in Madrid.
Roberto R. Céspedes is a film director, screenwriter, novelist and assistant director.
He is also CEO of ENCARNA MOOOVIES. He holds a degree in Film Directing from the KINEMA film school in Bilbao and a Master's Degree in Scriptwriting for Film and TV from the TAI school in Madrid.
He has written and directed 20 short films and one commercial film. His first big budget film is STOYAN, with Tristán Ulloa and Marta Milans. STOYAN has 138 international awards, 72 official selections and 9 mentions (43 awards for Best Film and 19 for Best Direction). Official Selection at FICAL in its National Feature Film Competition "Opera Prima". With theatrical release in 2023 and World Premiere at the 44th MIFF in the Wild Nights Section (Class A Festival).
Writer and director of the feature film project entitled MARMA RABBIT BOY (2025). Produced by CSC FILMS, BABIEKA FILMS and ENCARNA MOOOVIES. A comedy based on the novel by Roberto R. Céspedes. Official Selection in VENTANA MADRID (2024) and the TORINO FILM LAB EXTENDED (2022). His short film BROKEN BASKET, starring Belén Rueda, was selected in more than 40 festivals within the Pre-Selection circuit for the Oscars. The film STOYAN is based on this short film.
He has published three novels of different genres and written five novels in total. The last one MARMA RABBIT BOY (2020), published by Editorial Amarante and adapted to film. The first entitled LOS JIMÉNEZ SUEÑAN COMO QUIEREN (2017) and the second MERO FIRMAMENTO (2018) adapted to fiction miniseries. Both by Ediciones Camelot.
He has written more than 20 feature film, series and fiction miniseries scripts in development.
His new feature film project is ANANDA. Selected in the II TROBADA DE TALENT of the X Festival GALACTICAT of Tàrrega (2023) and in the First Edition of EL LAB DEL NORTE (2022), being the project supervised by the screenwriter and film director Santiago Fillol (co-screenwriter of O que arde and Mimosas and director of Matadero).
Roberto has also been the first assistant director in numerous short films, feature films and TV series, ranging between various positions within the directing department, such us First Assistant Director (8 años, 2020), Second Assistant Director (¿Cómo hemos llegado a esto?, 2024) and Third Assistant Director (SANTUARIO, 2024).
