Both this picture and John le Carré's source novel "The Tailor of Panama" (1996) were partially inspired by 'Graham Greene's novel and later film of Our Man in Havana ; Geoffrey Rush's performance evokes that of Alec Guinness who starred in Our Man in Havana.
