Paul's line "I reject your reality and substitute my own" would later be popularised by Adam Savage on the Discovery TV show, MythBusters (2003). The line became so popular that it was added to the shows introduction for several seasons.
The vehicles used in the "Desert Pursuit" segment were previously seen in producer Charles Band 's earlier film Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn (1983), only given new paint jobs.
When Ragewar was released in the U.S., Empire Pictures changed the title to The Dungeonmaster, mostly due to the popularity of the role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons. Newspaper ads included a disclaimer that said "This film is not endorsed by, or associated with, T.S.R. Inc., publishers of the Dungeon and Dragons game."
A clip from the Heavy Metal segment was reused two years later in the film TerrorVision (1986) showing Heavy Metal band W.A.S.P. performing their song "Tormentor" from their 1984 self-entitled album "W.A.S.P." on MTV.
