In HongKong the movie got reissued in a new Special Edition on DVD. Unfortunately the movie was slightly cut in order to get the Cat I. Rating. Two scenes showing naked girls from behind are missing.
Dimension Films had bought the rights for this Jackie Chan pre-Hollywood era highlight, but then hesitated to release it. After the box office successes of movies like Rumble in the Bronx they decided to release it to US cinemas in 1997. The good original score was removed and replaced by some insignificant jingel-jangle, but at least this time it was not cheap hip hop beats. Unfortunately, it was also heavily cut. Almost 100 cuts and more than 18 minutes missing are a clear signal to every fan not to buy this version. These cuts quite often only remove some more or less filler bits that usually are not long, but some of the memorable comedy scenes were lost to the US audience as well. A few of the fight scenes and more brutal moments were also cut, a version for the garbage bin.
Just like the first part, Jackie's second appearance as a Chinese Indiana Jones was released in a special (cut) version. The eight missing minutes mostly consist of rather unimportant plot scenes. Some not very well introduced side characters were removed as well, which could even be seen positive. On the other hand, however, the lacking scene of the massacre in the camp smells like censoring, even though the brutality in it does not really fit into the movie anyway. The removed action scenes at the end are a pity as well.
The original dub was so damn funny, I've watched the movie atleast 50 times in my life. It's the absolute best movie ever made on planet earth.
They made a new dub, which was horrible; It ruins the movie so totally.
Anyone got any more information on these dubs?

Regarding the movie at hand, nobody even knew that a different Japanese version of it existed. The runtime of roughly 7 additional minutes already made the new Blu-Ray interesting and since the disc is now available we can confirm: it is an extended Version that follows the first mentioned formula of many minor additions. Solely during the first half almost every scene was extended with a few additional shots, even though most of it is rather redundant material.
