To the world, Carrie Fisher is synonymous with Princess Leia from Star Wars, but she was more than just one role. The late actress was also a gifted script doctor, although this may be unknown to some of her fans because most of the time, she was uncredited.

and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III” (1993), as well as the animated “Tmnt” (2007).
Kaiju fans will want to check out “Godzilla” (2014), “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” (2019), “King Kong” (1933) and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” (2012).
Finally, if horror is your thing, six “Hellraiser” films and “The Ring Two” make great summer scares.

The original Max series “Full Circle” debuts on July 13. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the new drama investigates a kidnapping gone wrong in New York, revealing the secrets and lies of multiple characters. Or as the trailer warns: “Everything is connected.” The six-episode limited series stars Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Jim Gaffigan, Jharrel Jerome, Timothy Olyphant, and Dennis Quaid.
Watch the “Full Circle” trailer:
The four-part documentary “Last Call: When A Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York” is set in the early 1990s as the AIDS crisis worsens. The media’s distorted coverage of the gay victims, coupled with the homophobic biases of the criminal justice system, undermine the investigation. The docuseries — which premieres on Max on July 9 — illustrates how the LGBTQ+ community fought to solve the murders and demand attention for those murdered.

Intro: After the success of Lethal Weapon 3, it was a given there would be a fourth film in the franchise. But the next sequel proved to be surprisingly difficult to get into production. Until Warner Bros. realized they were heading into 1998 without a surefire summer hit on their hands. They gave Lethal Weapon 4 the greenlight and the movie was thrown together in a mad scramble. Twenty-five years later, it’s time to look back at the results of that rush job in this episode of Revisited.
Set-up: With a global box office haul of three hundred and twenty million dollars, Lethal Weapon 3 wasn’t just the biggest hit of the franchise. The 1992 release was considered to be the most profitable film in Warner Bros. history. So studio executives and producer Joel Silver immediately started looking forward to Lethal Weapon 4. Lethal Weapon 3 Revisited – Does changing the formula alter how we feel about this action franchise?
Is any franchise more beloved by eighties and nineties action fans than the Lethal Weapon saga? Through four installments, the Richard Donner-directed series, which starred Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as the most iconic buddy cops of all time, Riggs and Murtagh, consistently upped the ante as far as on-screen carnage went. But what made the series work wasn’t the action; it was the affection between Riggs and Murtagh and their genuine chemistry with their director, Donner. He made the movies family affairs. And indeed, the family grew with Lethal Weapon 3, which would introduce a tremendous love interest for Riggs – Rene Russo’s Lorna Cole.
In this episode of Revisited, written by Cody Hamman, edited by John Nguyen, and narrated by Travis Hopson, we dig into how the third installment of the series brought the Riggs character full circle by having him fall in love. We explore...

With the nominations for the 95th Academy Awards upon us, comeback kid Brendan Fraser is poised to win an Oscar for his heartbreaking, gut-wrenching performance in Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale" (read /Film's spot on review of the film here). If Fraser, famous for his swashbuckling days as Rick O'Connell in "The Mummy" franchise and off-the-wall comedies like "Airheads," wasn't ever considered a serious dramatic actor, he is now. Appearing as a guest on the "Saturday Night Live" deep dive podcast "Fly on the Wall" hosted by Dana Carvey and David Spade, Fraser opened up about his early days in the business when he was determined to be taken seriously as a performer.
Having just enjoyed some notoriety for his breakout role in "School Ties" (a film about a football star forced to confront anti-Semitism at a 1950s prep school), Fraser was trying to decide if playing a blockhead caveman...

Also leaving HBO and HBO Max this month is another Nolan classic, “Inception,” Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby,” as well as two rom-com favorites “Bridget Jones’s Diary” and “You’ve Got Mail.”
If you’re looking to prioritize some selections, “American Gigolo” was Richard Gere’s break-out role — and it would be a good time to watch ahead of the upcoming TV series starring Jon Bernthal.

When A League of Their Own hit theaters on July 1, 1992, it was up against a crowded slate of blockbusters, including Batman Returns, Lethal Weapon 3, Patriot Games, and Universal Soldier, that were expected to linger around multiplexes all summer. But when Labor Day rolled around two months later, all those other movies had faded away, and A League of Their Own was still packing in crowds on its way toward a 107.5 million domestic gross.

Thirty years ago, the heavens opened up and rained 231.6 million on Sister Act. Made for only a reported 31 million, the comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg as a Reno lounge singer who hides out in a convent after witnessing her mob boss boyfriend commit murder was the sleeper hit of the summer in 1992. It ended up the sixth-biggest movie of the year worldwide and No. 3 domestically, behind only Batman Returns and Lethal Weapon 3. And sure, the combination of Goldberg's comedic timing, the cheery nun squad, infectious music and fish-out-of-water premise seems like a slam-dunk now. Yet back in the day, Hollywood wasn't exactly in the, er, habit of filling...

"Lethal Weapon" redefined action movies for a generation with the antics of Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Murtaugh (Danny Glover). Helicopter shoot-outs and drive-by killings as well as a healthy dose of exploding buildings add up to a high-octane buddy cop movie that made us think twice about what makes an action movie.
But then "Lethal Weapon 3" dialed it up a notch.
He may be too old for this sh**t, but just a week from retirement, Murtaugh finds himself dragged into a case surrounding a former LAPD lieutenant turned arms dealer who's been giving up armor-piercing weapons to local gangs. Cue the shootouts and chase...

Comedian Anthony “Aj” Johnson was remembered Monday by the writers of his movie “Friday,” Ice Cube and DJ Pooh.
Shortly after news of Johnson’s death broke, Ice Cube called the late actor a “naturally funny dude who was straight outta Compton at the same time.” He added that he wished he could have brought back Johnson’s “Friday” character, Ezal, for the upcoming sequel film “Last Friday.”
Writer DJ Pooh said in a tweet, “Rest easy Aj,” while also sharing a Gif of Johnson running down the street with stolen merch in his arms, as seen in “Friday.”
Other stars also paid their respects to the late comedian, who, according to his reps, died earlier this month. No cause of death was revealed.
In addition to appearing in “Friday” in 1995, Johnson got his big break with the role of E.Z.E. in 1990’s “House Party.” His other notable...

In the summer of 1992, “Lethal Weapon 3” was dominating the box office, but audiences didn’t leave the theater talking about the outrageous stunts or Mel Gibson and Danny Glover’s buddy act. Rather, it was Rene Russo, a model-turned actress with a few minor roles in films like “Major League,” who stole the movie right out from under her A-list co-stars. Her turn as Sergeant Lorna Cole, a tough-talking internal affairs agent, fully capable of dodging bullets and kicking the crap out of the bad guys, was a breath of fresh air at a time when action movies were male-dominated affairs.
Russo, who’d go on to star in notable hits like “In the Line of Fire” and “Get Shorty” over the ensuing decade, credits director Richard Donner with taking a chance on the acting newcomer, whose resume initially made him hesitant to give her the gig. Donner died...

Jan de Bont cut his teeth in Hollywood as a cinematographer, working on some big movies like adventure sequel The Jewel of the Nile, Die Hard, The Hunt For Red October, Lethal Weapon 3 and Basic Instinct. And when the Dutchman decided to make the jump into directing, his first effort behind the camera turned out to be one of the greatest action blockbusters ever made.
High concept pitches were all the rage during the 1990s, and Speed has one of the best. A bomb is strapped to a bus, and if it slows down to less than 50 miles per hour, then it explodes. It sounds incredibly simple, but thanks to de Bont’s sharp direction, a relentless barrage of tension-fuelled action sequences and three phenomenal performances from leads Keanu Reeves, Dennis Hopper and Sandra Bullock, it became a massive box office smash hit and raked in over $350 million.

Now that we’re self-isolating at home to help defeat the Covid-19 pandemic, this may be the perfect opportunity to catch up on things that have been in our Netflix watchlist for a long while.
The novel coronavirus, a mutated strand from the family of coronaviruses, originated from Wuhan, China late last year, but currently, every single country in the world is battling the outbreak. As of now, more than 714,000 people have contracted the disease and 33,617 have passed away due to severe cases of acute respiratory syndrome. In the Us alone, more than 139,000 patients have been identified and approximately 158 million people are under lockdown across all 50 states. While the ramifications of the Covid-19 may have dealt the world of economics an unprecedented blow, business models like Netflix have profited from people spending more time at home with little to do.

On the eve of March 24th, when Disney+ is expected to expand across the United Kingdom and various parts of Europe, we have compiled the definitive list of new content headed to the streaming platform and its three key competitors – namely Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.
Yes, the so-called ‘streaming wars’ is now being fought on four fronts, and it’s fair to say that, despite being the fresh-faced newcomer, Disney+ is packing serious firepower. The world-famous Swedish vigilante hacker Lisbeth Salander is back, and this time she’s saving the world from nuclear annihilation. It’s a bit of a shift for Salander; when last we saw her in “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” she was solving serial murders and exacting painful revenge on abusive male accountants.
In Fede Alvarez’s “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” she’s stealing from the Nsa, surviving explosions in bathtubs and getting in a whole bunch of car chases. It’s like if “Goldfinger” was the sequel to “Psycho.” It may be undeniably cool to watch, but it’s hard to deny that it’s a tonal Crazy Ivan.
It’s been three years since Lisbeth Salander last worked with journalist Mikael Blomkvist. She’s been using her mad hacking skills to punish abusive husbands, but she’s still got a day job, and when...

Horror fans have been looking forward to seeing Mike Flanagan's Before I Wake since the film was teased in trailers back in 2015, but bankruptcy issues at Relativity Media delayed and ultimately brought the movie's release to a halt. Since that time, Flanagan directed two well-received films for Netflix, and the streaming service has now revealed that they will bring Before I Wake out of film purgatory and into the warm glow of the TV screen.
Netflix revealed the exciting Before I Wake news in their full announcement of titles being added to their streaming lineup in January of 2018. Starring Jacob Tremblay, Thomas Jane, and Kate Bosworth, Before I Wake will be available to watch on the streaming service beginning Friday, January 5th, marking its first official release in the Us (it was previously released internationally, including in the UK by Netflix).

Say this for 2018: It can’t be any worse than 2017, right? (Spoiler: It totally can.) At least Netflix’s first batch of offerings inspires cautious optimism in the new year, with everything from the entire “Godfather” trilogy, “Marie Antoinette,” five different “Batman” films and five different “Bring It On” movies (did you even know they’d made that many?), “Midnight in Paris,” the complete “Lethal Weapon” collection, “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” and “The Truman Show” coming to the streaming service in January.
