Estelle Horan: [wakes up to find Carrie standing next to her] Hi.
Little Carrie: What are those?
Estelle Horan: Breasts.
Little Carrie: I wish I had some.
Estelle Horan: You'll have to wait a few years, but you'll get them, and I bet they'll be really pretty too.
Little Carrie: No, I won't. Momma says good girls don't get them.
Estelle Horan: She said what?
Little Carrie: Mommy says good girls don't get...
Estelle Horan: Your mom is such a total hypocrite, she's like a C-cup.
Little Carrie: Momma says she was bad when she made me. That's why she has them, she calls them dirty pillows.
Estelle Horan: Wow.
Margaret White: [sees Carrie talking to Estelle] Carrie! Get over here, what did I tell you?
Estelle's Mother: [sees Margaret stepping out of her home] Afternoon Margaret.
Estelle Horan: Calm down Margaret, we're just talking.
Margaret White: Don't tell me to calm down, whore girl.
Estelle's Mother: Now Margaret, I asked you not to call my daughter that.
Estelle Horan: Suck it you cow!
Estelle's Mother: Estelle!
Margaret White: [grabbing Carrie's hand] Get in this house right now!
Estelle Horan: Do yourself a favor and run away from home!
Estelle's Mother: Estelle! Quiet!
Estelle Horan: Margaret says I have boobs because I was a slut.
Estelle's Mother: She said what?

And I'd heard a lot of people criticize this TV remake of the Sissy Spacek film. The guy at Blockbuster even said, "You're buying the REMAKE???"
Like I said, I like Ms. Bettis's work. She was FABULOUS in a similar role in the film MAY. I figured that would be just about ALL I'd like about this version of Carrie. After all, everyone knows that TV movies are never as good as theatrical ones, right???
But as I watched this movie, I was very impressed. The performances of Bettis and Patricia Clarkson as Carrie's holy roller mom were outstanding and chilling. But the writer of this TV script also deserves a nod. I've never been more impressed with TV writing before. It was just clever, with humor, and unpredictable.
The special effects were not perfect, but they were impressive for TV. The guy who played Carrie's date was TOO OLD to be a high school kid. The girls who were mean to her were well acted, and the guy who slaughtered the pig was a real psycho. His eyes looked crazy even.
Good movie. I give it an A.
