Today on Howard Stern, Olivia Wilde was in studio to promote her role on HBO's Vinyl and in the process provided lots of juicy tidbits, including the fact that at age 28 she was deemed "too old" for the role eventually played by Margot Robbie in Martin Scorsese's 2013 hit The Wolf of Wall Street (!). Also: why she wasn't "totally surprised" that Cowboys and Aliens flopped, what about her role on House makes her cringe, how Chris Farley brightened her day as a young girl and which of her former projects she hates the most. Check out 10 9 major highlights below. 1. She was deemed "too old" for the role of Jordan Belfort's wife in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street. Wilde, then 28, auditioned for the role of Naomi Lapaglia in Scorsese's Oscar-nominated film but was told she was too "sophisticated" for the character -- a note she eventually found out was code for "old.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack may be massively popular all over the globe, but it's always set my teeth on edge. As it happens, I know why this is the case – it can be traced all the way back to 1994 when I'd just started university. The girl in the campus room above happened to be a fan of Rocky Horror and would play the wretched thing over and over until the tape became time warped. And to that day, whenever a Rocky Horror song has come on the radio or TV, I've mentally ground my teeth till there's nothing left but gum.

Is Scarlett Johansson a hero or villain? This week, she's both: The actress does double duty, saving the world in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and consuming it in Under the Skin. Which performance reigns supreme? Plus, is Jude Law's crime caper Dom Hemingway going to steal your heart? Here's what to see and what to skip in theaters this weekend. See ThisCaptain America: The Winter Soldier var brightcovevideoid = '3426797509001'; With pirates on the seas, weapons in the skies and a raging liberty vs. security debate, The Winter Soldier should feel unsettlingly familiar. Natasha Romanoff, aka the Black Widow, is back and, trust us, Scarlett Johansson isn't complaining about it. The 29-year-old ingenue is playing the super spy with a dark past for the third time and in the third different franchise in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," Johansson actually has another movie opening on April 4 (although in limited release), Jonathan Glazer's acclaimed mini-masterpiece "Under the Skin" The two movies could no be more different from each other if you tried. "Winter Soldier" is a superhero thriller with political undertones to modern day concerns over the Nsa. "Skin," on the other hand, is one of the most daring art films to challenge audiences this century. Asked if she considers movies like "Skin" (and to a lesser extent "Her") a break from big studio productions, Johansson insists her work in the Marvel universe isn't that different from an art house indie. "I have...

Jennifer Aniston, 44, always looks like a million bucks even when she’s not wearing makeup! So we were hardly surprised that she looked amazing when she showed up to the German premiere of her latest movie We’re The Millers in Berlin on August 15. And while it was a given that Jen would look great, we still couldn’t believe how fabulous her glowing skin looked.
Jennifer Aniston’s Glowing Skin — How To Get Her Look
Like we said, Jen pretty much always looks fantastic — seriously, can you even think of a time in the past decade when she’s looked even a little sub-par? Us neither. So when she hit the red carpet on August 15 we were, of course, smitten with her look.

The star exuded effortless glamour in a gorgeous gown, stealing the spotlight on the red carpet at the La premiere! Did you love her latest look as much as we did?
Olivia Wilde looked premiere perfect when she hit the red carpet with her co-stars at the Tcl Chinese Theater in Hollywood for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone premiere on Mar. 11, where she dazzled in a shimmering, black Gucci gown. While the 29-year-old is beautiful, I really miss seeing her show-stopping, red carpet style — but it’s finally back!
Olivia wowed in a Gucci Pre-Fall 2013 gown for the occasion. The black frock featured a netted overlay with an embroidered neckline. The open back detailing allowed the star to show some skin while wavy tresses and dramatic, smoky eyes finished off the red carpet look. A pair of platform Charlotte Olympia pumps and jewelry by Rona Pfeiffer and Ef Collection added the finishing touches.

When I first saw The Avengers on the big screen I worried if it could be as large and as magnificent on the smaller screen. Few blockbuster films had achieved such success in creating a fun experience and the size of screen help sell audiences on the Marvel Universe gone wild. But believe me, true believers, if you have a tricked out home theater this is one of the essential blu-ray purchases you’ll make this year.
The Avengers accomplished Marvel Studios’ Phase I in spades. It collected all of these larger than life characters established in other films, and put them on a bigger stage against more unimaginable villains for the big screen. They used the solo films to develop these characters and then brought the all-star cast together to accomplish a few more goals–besides making gobs of money, that is: 1) To kick cinema ass. 2) Expand the horizons...

It's been more than a year since Fox debuted "The Chicago Code," which was the most recent show in an unfortunate but amusing tradition of shows promoted relentlessly with the same shouted line in every promo. Before Jennifer Beals was asked, incredulously, "You think you can change how things get done In Chicago?!?!," Ron Silver tried to warn his daughter in "Skin" that "His father is The District Attorney!," while the first "House" promos had House complaining to Cuddy, "You're risking A Patient's Life!" Many of these shows have been good, but it's just too easy to remember the one loud...

There’s no denying it, The Change-Up isn’t exactly the height of cinematic art. Instead, it does exactly what it says on the tin and entertains… Released on Triple Play Blu-Ray and DVD today, check out our review below.
Growing up together, Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) and Dave (Jason Bateman) were inseparable best friends, but as the years have passed they’ve slowly drifted apart. While Dave is an overworked lawyer, husband and father of three, Mitch has remained a single, quasi-employed man-child who has never met a responsibility he liked. To Mitch, Dave has it all: beautiful wife Jamie (Leslie Mann), kids who adore him and a high-paying job at a prestigious law firm. To Dave, living Mitch’s stress-free life without obligation or consequence is a world away from his sensible, settled lifestyle. Following a drunken night out together, Mitch and Dave’s worlds...

Superheroes are packing audiences into cinemas this summer. Rob looks at ten other comic book characters that deserve a break on the big screen…
With X-Men: First Class gaining fantastic reviews, Thor surprisingly well received, Green Lantern arriving today, Captain America ready and waiting just around the corner, and Spider-Man, The Avengers, Superman and the final Nolan-influenced Batman tempting us next year, the big names of the comics scene are once again packing audiences into the cinemas.
As such, the archives are being raided for other property’s characters and ideas to translate to film. But is this the best way of getting fan favourite characters onto cinema screens? The masses aren’t going to be queuing around the block to see ‘Aquaman the movie’, meaning that second string or lower tier characters, no matter how visually fantastic or exciting (actually, Aquaman is neither of these things) will see the light of cinema interiors,...

You ever heard the term "Save the best for last?" Well, that perfectly exemplifies the MTV Movie Awards. The Oscars, The Golden Globes, The SAG Awards, The DGA Awards. You know why those award shows occur towards the beginning of the year? Because they don't mean squat. I mean, any award show that doesn't occur halfway through the year is just culturally inferior, right? And who would you rather trust: A bunch of old people in suits, or a 14 year old with a laptop? Yeah, that's what I thought. So if you want to hear from the generation that Matters, check out a list of winners after the jump.

In the months leading up to the Academy Awards, the interwebs are flooded with pundit predictions on which films and folks will win the coveted Oscar.
Yet for the MTV Movie Awards? Zero. Zilch. Nada.
So taking a cue from our friends at Gold Derby, we enlisted a panel of experts to predict the winners in each of the 12 categories.
In a panel where quite nobly, no predictor took the easy route (read: picked "Twilight" in every category), it was a tight race, with a four-way tie for the top spot. Without further ado, the results:
7 Picks: Jordan Hoffman (Ugo), Eric Larnick (Moviefone), Tom O'Neil (Gold Derby), Kevin Polowy (NextMovie)
6 Picks: Aimee Carlson (Myspace), Erik Davis (Movies.com), Jen Yamato (Movieline)
4 Picks: Dave Karger (Entertainment Weekly), Mike Sampson (JoBlo), Susan Wloszczyna (USA Today)

Another year, another terrible MTV Movie Awards. "Twilight" once again won most of the awards, including Best Movie, but this time, the show reached an all-time low. The Best Jaw-Dropping Moment category included such scenes as James Franco cutting off his arm in "127 Hours," Steve-o getting a face full of human waste in "Jackass 3D," Natalie Portman pulling off the skin of her finger in "Black Swan," Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page sitting as Paris explodes and folds on itself in "Inception," and Justin Bieber singing in "Never Say Never." And Justin Bieber won. Check out the rest of the "winners" below. Prom
Opens: April 29th 2011
Cast: Aimee Teegarden, Thomas McDonell, Danielle Campbell, Yin Chang
Director: Joe Nussbaum
Summary: Portrays the precarious passage from high school to independence as some relationships unravel and others ignite. For Nova Prescott, it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events.
Analysis: Disney's attempt at creating the next "High School Musical" franchise for itself, this teen romantic comedy is a batch of clique cliches - the beauty queen, the rebel with better hair than anyone else in the film, the handsome yet dumb foreign exchange student, the 'so above it' geek who really wants to belong, and at least one or two 'fugly' girls.
It's all very "The Breakfast Club" meets "10 Things I Hate About...

Opens: 2011
Cast: John Cusack, Jennifer Carpenter, Ksenia Solo, Mae Whitman, Sonya Walger
Director: Morgan O'Neill
Summary: An obsessed cop is on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, New York. When his teenage daughter disappears, he drops any pretension and professional restraint he might have to get the killer.
Analysis: Shot almost three years ago now, Dark Castle had originally planned to release this thriller back in late 2009. However for reasons unspecified, it has been sitting on a shelf for some time and keeps getting delayed. In cases like these, the most obvious reason is usually the correct one - it stinks (eg. "Case 39"). The company certainly has had its fair share of box-office duds lately including "Whiteout," "Ninja Assassin," "The Losers," "Orphan" and "Splice".
Yet Cusack generally has good taste in projects, his last venture into horror was the surprisingly effective Stephen King...

It’s that time of year again, kids. Dread Central’s 2010 Horror at the Oscars coverage. Horror was indeed present this year and in black-tie. While Roger Corman and Lauren Bacall were honored a few months back at the Governor’s Award Ceremony, it was an unexpected delight to see Corman, recipient of the lifetime achievement Oscar, enjoy a standing ovation on national television.
I was, however, very disappointed that neither of them were allowed to speak. Roger Corman’s contributions to modern cinema are too vast for him to just stand up and wave. James Cameron was one of many Corman acolytes present, and his nomination speaks to Corman’s tremendous legacy. On the Terminator DVD Cameron mentions, "I trained at the Roger Corman Film School.” Jonathan Demme, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola, among many others, were also former students.
The terror continued with a spoof of Paranormal Activity...

Hong Kong -- On his just-completed swing through some of the Confucian parts of Asia -- China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea -- President Obama faced issues with which the film industry in this part of the world already is familiar.
These include issues of market access, a China that is pushing ahead as a regional superpower but already wants to play on a global stage and a string of Asian economies that largely have pulled out of recession and are out of step with a lumbering U.S.
Precisely how Asia's film industries deal with the rise of China and the new local balance of power isn't clear. It won't be without its bumps, but the biggest surprise might be how easily the rest of Asia falls in line.
"We could be entering an era of interdependence within Asian cinema," says Lee Joo-ick, a Korean producer who recently completed "The Warrior's Way,...

When Laura Leighton got wind of the CW's plans to reboot the 1990s soap sensation "Melrose Place," she shrugged and assumed she would have nothing to do with it. "I figured I was dead," she says with a laugh.Indeed, Leighton's tenure as flame-haired vixen Sydney Andrews on the original "Melrose" ended fairly decisively: After five seasons of blackmail, prostitution, and assorted schemes gone awry, the character was mowed down by an out-of-control car on her wedding day. But producers of the new series had other ideas, and they approached Leighton with a twisty story line straight out of the golden age of nighttime soaps. "They basically thought there was a way Sydney could've faked her death," explains Leighton. "And the real twist is, in the pilot, she's found murdered in the pool. And then we'll have this interesting way of going back in time through flashbacks to put together the pieces.

Year One wants it’s audience to believe it’s Agent Sands at the end of Once Upon A Time In Mexico. The film blindly fires it’s comedy at us, hoping things will hit us and evoke mountains of laughter. Why shouldn’t it? It’s directed by Harold “Egon” Ramis who’s done some decent comedy directing and is responsible for Ghostbusters and Caddyshack. The movie’s headlined by timid nerd Michael Cera, whom everyone adores, and Jack Black, who can be great when he wants to be. The talent is certainly there to make a fun, if useless, summer comedy. Yet like the aforementioned Sands, Year One misses just about every shot of comedy it unleashes.
Year One is terribly constructed together to the point where Ramis should feel ashamed he took part in it. Scenes start, climax, and then cut to the next scene without finishing...
