We’ve been reminiscing about some incredible Black female characters who once lit up our screens, and we can’t help but miss them.
From heroines like Michonne and Bonnie Bennett to complicated but strong-willed leads like Olivia Pope and Annalise Keating.
Those are just a few of the captivating women we miss seeing on our screens week in and week out, so we’ve crafted a list of the lovely ladies we’ll never stop thinking about.

After a midseason finale that left our jaws on the floor (not to mention both Jo and Lucas bloodied), we’re preparing for an epic return of the series.
(Disney/Tina Thorpe) Whose Life is Hanging in the Balance After the Convenience Store Shooting?
You have to hand it to Grey’s Anatomy Season 21 for its ability to have callbacks in a series that’s legally old enough to drink.
And drinking is what some of us may do when we tune in and have to face the reality that the shooter shot Lucas and/or Jo.

Working at a blood bank is good work, and a woman was terrorized on NCIS Season 22 Episode 13 while doing her job.
Not only was she assaulted by a fentanyl-taking lunatic, but all of the blood she worked so hard to collect and that regular people were so kind to donate was destroyed.
Frankly, that was a bummer.
(Robert Voets/CBS )
But before we get to that sad development, we need to discuss McGee’s kids’ latest fundraiser and his desire to beat Brendan Banks, the Cool School Dad, by assuring his kids sold the most coffee.
To begin with, Mr. Banks looked kind of skeevy to me. If I saw him, the last thing that would come to mind was being cool. However, kids are different, and parents need someone to look up to when it comes to raising them.
For McGee’s crowd, Banks was the it man.

In advance of the series’ upcoming Season 3 premiere, AMC Networks announced today that it has renewed the critically acclaimed and popular noir drama Dark Winds for a fourth season. The expanded, eight-episode, third season premieres March 9 on AMC and AMC+.
Season 4 of Dark Winds, which will begin filming in Santa Fe, New Mexico in March, will also consist of eight, hour-long episodes. The new season will also see the directorial debut of series’ star and executive producer, Zahn McClarnon, and will debut exclusively on AMC and AMC+ in 2026.
“When we greenlit the first season of Dark Winds, we saw the potential for an authentic and long-running franchise that could live alongside the worlds we were building around The Walking Dead and Anne Rice,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks.
“That is exactly what this cast and creative team delivered, and the fans have responded.

Season three of AMC’s drama Dark Winds is set to finally hit screens on March 9. It has taken over a year to get this new season going since its greenlight in 2023, but Deadline is now reporting that the AMC network has already renewed Dark Winds for a fourth season before the third officially broadcasts. The newly approved season is set to start its production in Santa Fe, New Mexico, just as the season three episodes drop on AMC this March and has been scheduled to air in 2026. Season four will follow this year’s output with eight episodes since the show picked up steam and the first two only showcased six episodes each.

There will be more Dark Winds on AMC.
The network has renewed the thriller for a fourth season. The news comes ahead of the premiere of its third season on March 9.
Season 4 of the series, which stars Zahn McClarnon, will begin filming in Santa Fe, Nm, in March and will air in 2026.
Much like Season 3, it will consist of eight episodes. Seasons 1 and 2 had six episodes each.
The news is not a huge surprise given the boost that Dark Winds seems to have gotten from its airing on Netflix. The first two seasons of the show are currently on the streamer and after they dropped in August, they remained in Netflix’s top 10 for over three weeks. Dark Winds also aired on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max as part of a two-month pop-up in 2023.
Season four will also feature the directorial debut of star and exec producer McClarnon.

AMC is getting an early start on the future of its drama series Dark Winds.
The company has renewed the series, based on Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee novels, for a fourth season. The pickup comes about two weeks before the March 9 premiere of season three on AMC and streamer AMC+.
Like the coming third installment, season four of Dark Winds will run for eight episodes, up from six apiece for the first two seasons. Production is slated to begin in March, with star and executive producer Zahn McClarnon making his directing debut on one of the episodes.
“When we greenlit the first season of Dark Winds, we saw the potential for an authentic and long-running franchise that could live alongside the worlds we were building around The Walking Dead and Anne Rice,” said Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks. “That is exactly what this cast and creative team delivered,...

George R.R. Martin has shared an update about the possibility of an Elden Ring movie, and it looks like there have been some discussions. However, his ongoing work on The Winds of Winter could make it difficult for him to be directly involved.
Martin, who helped shape the world of the popular Elden Ring game alongside FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, has long been a fan-favorite choice for any potential adaptation. When asked whether he’d be interested in working on a sequel, he instead dropped an interesting hint about a movie.
“Well, I can’t say too much about it, but there is some talk about making a movie out of Elden Ring,” he revealed. While nothing has been officially confirmed, Martin’s comment suggests that discussions may be happening behind the scenes. Miyazaki himself has previously said he’s open to the idea, but whether or not it moves forward remains to be seen.

AMC+ isn’t one of the biggest names in streaming, but does it show as many ads as the industry leaders do?
Although AMC+ isn’t one of the biggest streaming services on the market, it carries plenty of shows and movies that have gained notoriety over the years. Shows like “Better Call Saul,” “Dark Winds,” “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” and a wealth of other premium content calls AMC+ home, and it makes a worthy addition to any streaming collection.
AMC+ offers two plans: an ad-supported option for $7 per month, or an ad-free tier for $10 per month or $84 per year. If you’re trying to determine if you can skate by with the ads plan to save a little money, but you need to know how many ads you’ll actually see when watching, keep reading! I took a deep dive into AMC+ to see how many commercials the streamer really shows.

With Bernadette's big decision at the end of Dark Winds season 2, season 3's story involving her will be a challenge to pull off. Season 2 of Dark Winds was just as well-received as season 2, both sitting at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season was intense, leading to Dark Winds season 2's thrilling ending, and the events of the season led to all three main characters of Dark Winds' cast - Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon), Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten), and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) - experiencing profound turmoil and personal growth.
Of course, intense periods of growth often come with big, life-changing decisions, and that was certainly the case for Dark Winds. For Leaphorn, it was that he finally began to make peace with the darkness in his heart and his son's death. For Chee, he finally reconciled his thorny relationship with his Native American roots and ultimately decided to rejoin the tribal police.

Just over a month after Walmart closed a $2.3 billion deal to acquire Vizio to help further its ambitions in the connected TV advertising space, the retailer has unveiled a new bundling plan for consumers with two smaller streaming platforms.
AMC+ and Starz will be bundled to Vizio customers at a rate of $13.99 a month (about $7 less than it’d cost if the subscriptions were purchased separately), the company said on Monday. Vizio, which disclosed in December that it had 19 million accounts for its SmartCast operating system, is being leveraged by Walmart on a battlefield that also includes Roku, Samsung, Apple TV and Amazon’s Fire TV.
AMC+, which features titles like Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, thriller series Dark Winds as well as The Walking Dead franchise and hits like Mad Men, reported about 11.8 million subscribers as a standalone service in AMC Networks’ latest earning disclosure in November. And Starz,...

Dark Winds season 3 is on the way, and viewers are already wondering what the future holds for AMC's psychological neo-noir Western. Dark Winds adapts Tony Hillerman's Leaphorn & Chee novels which focus on the Navajo County tribal police. Making its debut on AMC in 2022, the first two chapters have already drawn a dedicated following. The finale of season 2 saw veteran officer Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) exact justice on B.J. Vines (John Diehl), the man responsible for his son's death — an explosive ending that left the door wide open for Dark Winds season 3.
When the release date arrives, Dark Winds season 3 will be picking up where the hugely successful second left off. The second season of Dark Winds saw a 146% viewership spike over the first (via Variety), and both AMC and the cast, crew, and creative team of Dark Winds plan to continue. Navajo police lieutenant Joe Leaphorn, played by Zahn McClarnon, is haunted by a bogeyman from his childhood in the third season teaser trailer for AMC’s Dark Winds, which dropped on Friday.
Leaphorn appears badgered by his demons after leaving B.J. Vines (John Diehl) in the desert to freeze to death during the second season of the noir thriller. “When I was a boy, when I went to school, we were taught that the monsters walked the Earth. When you kill a man, he’s bound to you. I’ve accepted it. And I am prepared to go on living with it, every day,” Leaphorn reveals in the third season trailer.
That’s followed by Tribal Police officer Jimmy Chee (Kiowa Gordon) appearing to try, without success, to get a severely wounded Leaphorn on the phone as his partner confronts a monster trying to stalk and kill him.

Native American actors have been getting their much-deserved dues in recent years in Hollywood, with younger and older Indigenous actors benefiting from more opportunities. Native Americans, Indigenous peoples, and First Nations peoples are all names for the peoples who can trace their origins to the original tribes, confederations, and communities that called America home long before any Europeans came ashore. Persecuted from the outset, even modern Hollywood is not free from the sin of disrespecting and disenfranchising Native American actors. There’s a long, sad history of Hollywood whitewashing Indigenous roles, that is when they’re even included at all.
But the story has been changing in the 21st century. Native American movies and TV shows are telling real stories of Indigenous peoples, made by and starring those closest to them. With shows like Reservation Dogs and Dark Winds, and movies like Rez Ball proving popular with critics and audiences alike,...
