What can I say about this independent gem. Yes, it's a gem because you really got into the life of the 15 year old girl. Her life is just one piece of trash. Growing up with her mother isn't fun. Mother has no money so prostitution is the only remedy to earn money.
The girl has to wait in the car for her mother while she's doing it so slowly she also gets into the world of selling your body. Jessica Taylor Haid playing the 15 year old prostitute gives an excellent performance. It's was her first flick and to do all this stuff you see a big thumb up. There's a lot of nudity going on and some will be offended by it because she's fifteen of course.
Not a happy movie after all and shows the life of so many youth in the USA. No work is no money is no place to stay. Great performances, good filming and editing, okay there's a continuity fault on the beach with the girl her socks but hey. If that's all...if you find this and can stand sad stories then pick it up.
Gore 0/5 Nudity 2/5 Effects 0/5 Story 3/5 Comedy 0/5

When I saw this movie on amazon, I assumed it was a soft-core porn flick, but then the film starts with the messaged about how teen girls are exploited for sex. that really ruin my high.
The movie tries to cover everything you ever herd about teen prostitution and role it up in one girl, and it becomes a series of adventures in her life. Semi episodic going from one segment to another, but it does help to get the message across.
It is a realistic story about survival trying to be very leveled in telling us what it takes to be a girl in this position.
Yet still, the opening tiled message does help to get me in the tone of the drama this is suppose to be, the movie still kinda feels like a soft-core porn. It never ever gets out of that mood.
For me it does not make this an easier pill to shallow. In fact it does what a work of art should do...it makes me think, about the young girls who go into porn and I've seen at strip clubs and what actually got them there.
So, great film to watch, with a great message, unless your one of those guys who lives at the strip club, than this might mess up your head a little (or at lease I hope it does).

Because it appears that we have a ton of experts in underage prostitution. "So real", "gripping truth", etc. But seriously, it's a dark indie pick that depicts desperate people trying to survive in a way-to-expensive California while never considering moving to somewhere else or doing something else. It does a good job of displaying a white trash attitude and mindset.
This is by far the best Indie film I've seen in a long time. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was incredibly intriguing and had me through the whole film. The acting was great, and the plot was disturbing in the best way. An eye opener for sure! I've never seen anything like it, and looking forward to more from this director..

This movie starts out with statistics about child prostitution. What should have been a cautionary tale turns into an excuse to have the lead actress in several sex scenes, some where she was actually enjoying the sex. Don't get me wrong, I'm no prude, but this didn't feel like it was trying to show me the worst of society, rather, I felt like I was being shown her body and her sexual acts in a style that sought to make them feel sexy instead of horrifying...which I though was the point of the movie.
There just didn't seem to be anything going on here and no real message. The movie Thirteen or Megan is Missing have more to offer as far as what can go wrong with at risk teens.

This was a hard watch. I'm grateful to not have had to have such a life but boy could I think of the way men have made me feel disgusting. Non consentual situations. Hot rancid breath leaving a pungent odour upon your body. Being desperate to survive ready to do anything. The horrible people greedy to exploit people for their own personal gain. I almost cried. I did have goosebumps by the ending. Very heartbreaking. I liked that the actors weren't perfect. Our star has a tummy, mom is aged, friend pock marked, boyfriend extremely scrawny underneath. It's real!!! And that just made it so much harder to stomach. I wish I could save all who want to be saved from such a life. I'm proud of the creator getting this out there. Nudity also added to the uneasiness of watching. People are ignorant to what's going on in our own backyards. It's everywhere. Having to degrade yourself and have sex just to eat? It shouldn't be. But it's part of this world.
Anyway thanks to all of you who made this real.

1st off, the young girl main character is very pretty, which doesn't hurt. The acting by everyone is decent and the characters and situations seem realistic. Location shooting is one of the strongest aspects of this film. However, I wasn't quite satisfied. If it somehow went deeper I would have given it one or two more stars.
Strange tale of a hooker mother training her teenage daughter to the trade. A mother and daughter live together on their own. They barely make it from motel to motel, month to month. They are always having to compromise to live. It's a bleak story about the life one finds oneself in when one surrounds oneself with drugging and turning tricks. I know it might LOOK like this is a flick about Jessica Taylor Haid's body, but it's more than that.

Something that hit me was the way in which the little girl was just bounced around from place to place. She had no stability in her life and no reason to believe that she was able to choose any other path other than the one she saw her own mother take. How sad to know that there are so many like her in the world. The nudity and stuff didn't bother me because I felt it wasn't gratuitous in nature. It felt very natural and like what would happen in reality.
So sad but true. Could have gone many ways. I had several scenarios in my head but I do like to be surprised by endings

I watched this movie last night on Amazon and was taken into this world that was so close to reality that it was uncomfortable at times. I felt like a fly on the wall of this girl's life. There seemed to be no separation between what was fiction and reality and that's what I loved the most. It felt almost like a documentary in certain parts. Some people might be taken aback by the graphic nature, but that's real life and I should know as I worked in that business for half of my life which is what drew me to the film in the first place. People need to realize and understand that the sex industry is not pretty and it's not nice and if you're offended by the truth, then perhaps you should watch a Disney movie next time. It upset me in certain ways because it brought back some upsetting memories for myself, but comforting at the same time because I know that I'm not alone in my experiences. Girl Lost is disturbingly beautiful and very well filmed and fantastic acting. 10 stars from me. I wish there were more films to watch like this.

This movie follows the tragic life of Shara, a fifteen year old girl whose mother has resorted to prostitution in order to support them. Her mom shacks up with any man that will have her, which leads to Shara being the victim of an attempted rape. They leave that house and end up at another where Shara meets a boy and they fall in love. Things go south between them and having no other life skills, Shara turns to prostitution as well. She ends up working for a high end agency where she is exploited.
This is indeed a sad tale that I am sure bears a lot of similarities to actual stories. The story is good and you legitimately feel for Shara, but the acting is far from good and the nudity feels a lot on the exploitative side. Jessica Taylor Haid, who portrays Shara was around 20 when this was filmed, but she has a face that could very easily pass for 15 or 16, and her constant nudity gave the film a dirty feel. Given the subject matter I feel that the writer/director could have approached the nudity a bit differently.
This film comes in as average for me.

Ok firstly the film sucked it was meant to be a moral film about the horrors of child prostitution which instead was made like a soft core film and the acting wasnt the best either . overall it was a waste of time.
when checking the reviews the first 30 were mostly 10/10 which is amazing for a less than average film and then 25 of the people reviewing the film have never reviewed any other and are new members. after that the real reviews tell a very different story.
this ruins this website. any film found to do this should have a warning above their rating saying partially based on false views this will help others judge the films before watching.

I honestly don't understand what this film is trying to do. It's supposed to be about the major issue of sex trafficking but it has some pretty graphic sex scenes & nudity. I don't think it's right to make a movie about human trafficking into a twisted version of soft core porn. I understand what the film is about but I don't think all of the sex scenes & nudity is needed to get the point across. This movie really is just plain grim. It does a good job at showing how horrible life on the streets can be. But the approach just wasn't good. Most of these reviews seem fake. If I were you, don't waste your time. Also, the scene with Daniel Wojack is one of the most unnerving scenes I have ever seen in a movie. It still bothers me, which I'm sure is what they want. Whoever helped raise the $35,000 Kickstarter fund should ask for their money back.

Currently streaming as "Girl Lost" on Amazon Prime, this was an abysmal waste of an hour and a half.
All of the 9 and 10 star ratings were posted by users who have ONLY reviewed this dog (and given it a high rating)...such BS. Script was awful, acting was awful; I usually like low-budget indies with unknown actors, but this one sucked.

This movie is a cult classic for the ages. Usually Europeans are way ahead of us in making movies with real stories but this one holds it own against them.
Real stories are educational and bring up real life issues.
Hats off to the producers and all the cast members for actually making this movie!

Terrible film. Very stupid, very unreal. No actors no writer nothing really a trash home video, a group of neighbors met at the community center and decide to do this trash video home, is about prostitution mom work with her daughter and daughter with her mom, a dynamic duo, no is not batman and robin, and of course these terrible and nasty story tale occurred in USA,hope someone stop these kind of video homes and why they post around like movies like some cultural movie. For sure the good review and almost style Blue Moon or Fantastic Woman are families and friends of the people who make this video
Don't you love being surprised by a film in a good way. Usually this happens to our dismay and we end up losing 90 to 150 mins. Of our life we'll never get back again. But when this happens in a good way you feel happy for the actors, writers, directors and producers etc. who all pitched in to make an amazing film.
Nowhereland aka. Girl lost is just that, A story told without apologizing for it's incredible reality of an underaged female teen coerced into prostitution. Purely brilliant cinematography this independent film packs a punch on all fronts. I sometimes felt as though I was merely a fly on the wall watching a real life couple. Not to say It was a reality show type of setting I am just stating how authentic some scenes were set up to be. It's the kind of film that deeply pulls on your heart strings as you watch it by being excruciatingly sad while simultaneously being entertaining.
Acting, pace, On camera charisma was all above par. And for that reason I give this movie a GREAT MOVIE rating. Please you should sit down and make some time to watch this film it is truly a good film you won't be disappointed.
Robin Bain the actress, writer and producer of this film should be extremely proud.

Incredible the lots of fake reviews with 10/10 rating. This movie feels like a student proyect more than a profesional piece. Some moments are kind of believable and the topic it's interesting, but the execution it's very poor.
A young woman struggles with life on the street. A life on the edge of darkness, invisible to many. No escape. No support. Little hope. Alone, afraid, and desperate. She must decide if she will survive. Does survival require selling her body?
An all-too-common life we all-too-often ignore. But Girl Lost is a story that must be told. A compelling tale with insight into battles fought every day.
Robin Bain is the force, the reason we have Girl Lost. Robin decided to "stop waiting for someone else" to make her film. Instead, she overcame the obstacles. Robin shines light into the darkness so all of us can see life more clearly. Thank you, Robin.
