Grosse Pointe Garden Society is taking root amid murder and mayhem.

NBC on Friday released the first trailer for the forthcoming drama, which premieres Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10/9c. (People was the first to report the news.) In the series, a group of suburbanites reveal the first rule of their local gardening club: Everyone must have each others’ backs. Shouldn’t be too hard, in theory, except that Grosse Pointe Garden Society looks like it’s dealing with homicide, arson and more seedy misbehavior. (Oh my!)

NBC is getting its hands good and dirty with a series order for Grosse Pointe Garden Society, a new drama about the scandalous goings-on of a suburban garden club, TVLine has learned.

Written by Jenna Bans (Desperate Housewives, Scandal, Good Girls) and Bill Krebs (No Tomorrow, Good Girls), the series focuses on four very different members of the titular garden club who “get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom,” per the official synopsis.

Some fun news: TV veteran Malcolm-Jamal Warner is scrubbing in for a guest-starring role on 9-1-1.

NBC has ordered a drama pilot from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs.

The project is titled “Grosse Pointe Garden Society.” The official logline reads, “Four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom.”

Bans and Krebs serve as writers and executive producers on the pilot. Bans will executive produce under her Minnesota Logging Company banner along with Casey Kyber. Universal Television, where both Bans and Krebs are under overall deals, will produce.

“Grosse Pointe Garden Society” was originally put into development at NBC back in 2022, while the network opened a writers’ room for the series in 2023.

Bans is best known for creating the NBC series “Good Girls,” starring Christina Hendricks, Retta, and Mae Whitman. The show aired for four seasons at the broadcaster. Bans’ other credits include creating the ABC...

Exclusive: CBS is taking another shot at adapting the German police procedural dramedy Einstein, this time with major changes to the original concept.

The 2017 German series was a police procedural dramedy about the unknown great-great-grandson of Albert Einstein, a theoretical physics professor, who helps the police in solving murder cases.

The CBS take, written/executive produced by Insatiable creator Lauren Gussis and executive produced by American Gothic creator Corinne Brinkerhoff, centers on a roguish, out-of-the-box-thinking physics professor who happens to be the secret, illegitimate great-granddaughter of Albert Einstein. She begrudgingly partners with a Boston homicide detective not only to help solve the most puzzling of crimes, but also to address the problems ever-present inside the institution of policing itself.

In addition to switching the gender of the Einstein great-grandchild title character, the adaptation also provides 2020 perspective on policing, which has come under major scrutiny following the death of George Floyd.

The project, which hails from writers Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey (Will & Grace) and CBS TV Studios, has been in development since last October, but no network or streaming service was attached.

Peacock has landed the series reboot of “Clueless” centered on the character Dionne for development, Variety has learned exclusively.

The untitled comedy series is described a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sun-glasses wearing, oat milk latte and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong number two Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans. How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?

News of the show’s development was first reported last October, though no network or streaming service was attached at the time. Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey will serve as writers and executive producers on the project. Corrinne Brinkerhoff, Scott Rudin, the film’s producer Robert Lawerence, Eli Bush, and Tiffany Grant will also executive produce. CBS Television Studios will produce.

HBO Max is staging a Jane the Virgin reunion, of sorts: Yael Grobglas, who played scene-stealer Petra Solano on the aforementioned CW series, will headline the HBO Max dark comedy Here She Lies, executive-produced by Jane showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman, our sister site Deadline reports.

The potential series centers around a pathological liar (Grobglas) with a tragic past who’s struggling to free herself from the web of lies she can’t stop weaving while slowly falling in love with someone who’s equally damaged.

Kwame Patterson (The Oath) is set for a major recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of FX’s Snowfall. Exclusive: The CW has put in development a friends comedy from Hannah Marks (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency), Ben Stiller’s Red Hour, No Tomorrow creator Corinne Brinkerhoff and CBS Television Studios, where Brinkerhoff is under a deal.

The Untitled Hannah Marks Project, written by Marks, is a five-minutes-in-the-future comedic drama about four female friends navigating their 20s. The show explores classic coming-of-age themes like love, friendship, identity and sexuality, all through a futuristic high-tech lens.

Marks serves as co-executive producer on the project. Stiller, Nicky Weinstock and Jackie Cohn executive produce for Stiller’s Red Hour with Brinkeroff and Tiffany Grant via Green Ribbon. CBS Television Studios is the studio.

Marks wrote and directed the 2018 feature After Everything starring Jeremy Allen White, Maika Monroe and Marisa Tomei. As an actress, Marks is known for her role as Amanda Brotzman on BBC America’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.

CBS TV Studios is looking to reboot “Clueless” for the small screen. A drama series based on the 1995 comedy is in the works at the studio, a person with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap.

The show would be focused on the Dionne character played by Stacey Dash in the Alicia Silverstone-led movie and the followup series, which ran on ABC from 1996-1997 and then Upn from 1997-1999.

The project, written by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey (“Will & Grace”), is currently still the in development stage and being considered by multiple bidders, the individual tells us.

Exclusive: Australian actor Ben Lawson has been cast opposite Katherine Heigl in Netflix’s Firefly Lane, a drama series from Maggie Friedman (No Tomorrow) based on the bestselling novel by Kristin Hannah.

Written and executive produced by Friedman, who also serves as showrunner, Firefly Lane follows the story of Tully (Heigl) and Kate, two unlikely best friends who meet as young girls and become inseparable for nearly 30 years, until a tragedy breaks them apart. Lawson will play Kate’s ex-husband Ryan, who also has a long history working with Tully.

Friedman executive produces with Stephanie Germain and Lee Rose. Hannah is co-executive producer. Peter O’Fallon will direct and executive produce the first episode.

Lawson recently starred on the second season of Netflix’s hit drama series 13 Reasons Why and on ABC’s action drama Designated Survivor. He also recurred on NBC’s critically acclaimed comedy series The Good Place.
