The first time that real-life brothers, Nat and Alex Wolff, have acted together since their staring role in Nickelodeon's The Naked Brothers Band, of which Polly Draper created, showran, head wrote, and directed. In this film, Draper plays their widowed mother, while in their old TV show, Michael Wolff played their widowed father.
The alter-egos that the brothers use in jokes, called Nelson and George, are actually alter-egos the brothers use in real life with each other.
Writer/director Polly Draper and her family adopted the dog, Stella, from a shelter for the part. Draper later shared that Stella became so attached to her, she'd often leave a scene and try to find Draper as soon as she heard her voice from the director's chair.
Alex Wolff was said to have ad-libbed a few lines, something he did as a child as well when he first acted with his brother.
Lisa Darden's debut.
