140 Squadron of the Israeli Air Force, also known as the Golden Eagle Squadron, was an F-16A/B fighter squadron based at Nevatim Airbase.[1]
On 2 August 2013, as part of the IDF's budget cuts, it was closed and merged with 116 Squadron (Defenders of the south).[citation needed]
In 2015 it was announced that the "Golden Eagle" will be the first Lockheed Martin F-35 Adir Squadron in the IAF.[2]
