Bajadera (Croatian pronunciation: [bajaděːra]) is a praline from nougat which is enriched with almond, hazelnuts from the species of Corylus avellana or walnuts from the Juglans species which gives it a specific and recognizable taste.

Preparation

Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Bajadera praline was very popular in the countries of ex-Yugoslavia, and it gave origin to a popular home-made version of the dessert. The "non-commercial" version of Bajadera is made from brewed sugar and water, that is moved from the heat source and has the added mixture of grounded almonds (or walnuts, or hazelnuts), cookies and butter or margarine. Half of the mixture is put in a shallow container, and the other half mix in 100 g of molten chocolate. That chocolate mixture is overflowed over the first half. As the last move in preparation the frosting on the praline is put. For this preparation of the bajadera these ingredients are used:

  • 2 spoons milk

Brand Name

Bajadera refers to the commercial preparation of bajadera by the Kraš confectionery company of Zagreb, Croatia. Bajadera produced by Kraš has been approved to carry the label of 'Original Croatian' Izvorno hrvatsko.[1]
