Beau Christian Knapp is an American actor and film producer, known for his roles in The Signal, Run All Night and Southpaw.
Career
In 2011, Knapp made his film debut by starring in the science-fiction adventure film Super 8 as Breen, which was directed by J. J. Abrams and other cast included Joel Courtney, Elle Fanning, and Kyle Chandler.[1][2] The film was released domestically on June 10, 2011 by Paramount Pictures.[3] In 2012, Knapp played the role of Denny in the horror thriller film No One Lives along with Luke Evans and Adelaide Clemens.[4][2] Ryuhei Kitamura directed the film, which had premiered on September 8, 2012 at TIFF and was released on May 10, 2013 by Anchor Bay Films.[5]
In 2013, Knapp portrayed the role of Zane Reynolds, a suspect on taking orders from Christopher Pelant, in the finale episode "The Secret in the Siege" of the eighth season of the Fox's Bones. The finale was premiered in April 29, 2013.[6]
In 2014, Knapp played Jonah Breck, one of the lead roles in the science-fiction thriller film The Signal, along with Brenton Thwaites, Olivia Cooke, and Laurence Fishburne.[7][8] William Eubank's directed film was released on June 13, 2014 by Focus Features.[2] Same year, he also starred in the drama You're Not You as Jackson and directed by George C. Wolfe, while other starring Hilary Swank, Emmy Rossum and Josh Duhamel.[2][9] The film was released on October 10, 2014 by Entertainment One Films.[10]
In 2015, Knapp played the role Kenan Boyle in the crime thriller Run All Night opposite Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman, Common, and Ed Harris, which Jaume Collet-Serra directed.[11] The film was released on March 13, 2015 by Warner Bros. Pictures.[12] He also appeared in the boxing drama Southpaw, as Jon Jon, along with Jake Gyllenhaal, Forest Whitaker, and Rachel McAdams, directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Kurt Sutter.[13] The film was released domestically on July 24, 2015 by The Weinstein Company.[14]
Knapp has played Marlo in the romantic thriller What Lola Wants opposite Sophie Lowe, which Rupert Glasson directed.[15] The film premiered on June 12, 2015 at the Los Angeles Film Festival.[16]
Knapp starred in the action film Dirty Lies, a.k.a. The Guilty Innocent, along with Mark L. Young, Tania Raymonde, and Lili Simmons, which Jamie Marshall directed.[17][2][18] He played Detective Walker in the psychological thriller The Gift, the directorial debut of Joel Edgerton, and starring Jason Bateman, Rebecca Hall, and Edgerton.[19][20] The film was released on August 7, 2015 by STX Entertainment.[21]
Knapp played the best friend of Chris Pine's character Bernard Webber in the disaster drama film The Finest Hours along with Casey Affleck and Ben Foster.[22] Craig Gillespie directed the film, which is scheduled to be released on January 29, 2016 by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.[23] Knapp also played a villain in the mystery thriller The Nice Guys, alongside Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, and Matt Bomer.[18] The film is directed by Shane Black, and was released on May 20, 2016 by Warner Bros. Pictures.[24]
Knapp is also playing a role of Alabama-based violent boy, named Crack in the Ang Lee's directed war film Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, also starring Joe Alwyn, Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Stewart, and Vin Diesel.[25] The film is scheduled to be released on November 11, 2016 by TriStar Pictures.[26] Knapp has played Daryl in the Gary Michael Schultz's directed crime thriller Vincent-N-Roxxy, also starring Emile Hirsch, Zoë Kravitz, and Zoey Deutch.[27] Knapp also played a role of Lucas in the drama film Juveniles along with Stephen Moyer, Martin Henderson, Nick Eversman, and Morgan Lily, directed by Nico Sabenorio.[28]
Knapp is currently filming a war drama Sand Castle along with Nicholas Hoult and Henry Cavill.[29]
