- ↑ The game play has nothing to do with the Beowulf story. Over three rounds, each played on a differently arranged pattern of squares in rows and columns, players place square tokens and/or figurines on the grid. The tokens are worth positive or negative points or have special rules (such as causing all tokens in the same row or column to be worthless). The owner of a figurine scores points based on the tokens in the same row and column as it.
