Christmas Do-Over is a TV movie starring Jay Mohr and Daphne Zuniga. It premiered on ABC Family in 2006 on their 25 Days of Christmas programming block. It is a remake of a previous ABC Family Christmas TV movie, Christmas Every Day, but with an adult as the protagonist.

Plot

Kevin (Jay Mohr), a lazy and selfish music composer, is a divorced father from his wife Jill (Daphne Zuniga), who has to drive up to visit her parents for Christmas. While shopping for a gift for his son at the last second, he purchases a gift without even knowing what it is. He arrives at Jill's family only to not be well liked by her parents who resent him except his son Ben and Granny Conlon. What's worse is the gift he got his son is an easy bake oven and he is outshined by Jill's new boyfriend Todd (David Millbern), a Cardiologist outshines him at every moment as he dresses as Santa, when Kevin usually does every Christmas, gets his son a better gift and Jill a new car which leaves Kevin depressed. Kevin wishes to leave, but the only way out of town is now blocked by a giant boulder. The family then goes to a Christmas fair so Kevin's former father-in-law Arthur (Tim Thomerson) tries to win but loses every year to his neighbors the Hendersons. They later go caroling with a reluctant Kevin and afterwards Todd proposes to Jill who says yes. The whole family celebrates minus Kevin who is too saddened by the events from the day and Ben over not getting his parents back together. Just as the day ends, due to Ben wishing it was Christmas every day, at Midnight Kevin finds himself back at the front door Christmas morning.

Kevin then realizes he's living the same day over and over again. He attempts to explain this to Jill but she doesn't believe him. After living Christmas over so many times he attempts to escape town only to be blocked by the giant boulder every time. Eventually, Kevin realizes there are no consequences for his actions and chooses to live the day acting selfish and immature throughout the day. Eventually, his anger gets the better of him and gets in a fight at the Christmas Fair in a fight which deeply upsets his son and Jill over his selfish behavior. After a talk with Granny about his choices in life, Kevin admits he really wants to have his family back the way it was before the divorce.

Kevin then relives Christmas Day over while trying, though rather poorly, to do the right thing. However, he purposely sabotages Todd's efforts to win Jill over by swapping his gift with his own, making him fall and hurt his leg so Kevin can be in the fair with Arthur, and purposely ruining his attempts to propose to Jill. However, even after Kevin gets Jill and the family nice gifts and wins a lottery contest, Jill does not fall in love with him again stating money and presents will not win her over. Upset, Kevin now repeatedly tries to leave town only to be thwarted by either the boulder or time itself. During one attempt he was saved by Todd. After seeing Todd willing to postpone proposing to Jill, Kevin, now realizing how selfish and jealous he's been about how great Todd is, sees how good a person Todd is and that he deserves Jill more than him.

Kevin then willing lives Christmas over again while taking full responsibility over his faults and actions and lets Todd propose without sabotaging him and instead congratulating him. After a talk with Jill about his life and his new efforts on becoming a better man, Kevin relives Christmas to the best he can. He practices his dancing and helps Arthur win the fair competition, he re-designs the easy bake oven into a "monster melt" that greatly impresses everyone, and sings a song where Todd was meant to propose. Afterwards, he and Jill have a walk who admits he's content with living the same day over as he can spend time with his family. Jill is touched and the two kiss, but as Midnight strikes Kevin doesn't relive Christmas again anymore.

In the end credits, Jill and Kevin get back together and drive off with their son Ben with Kevin now a reformed man.
