Corvinone is a native grape variety of Verona, Italy and is used with Corvina in the wines of the Valpolicella region, most notably Amarone and Recioto. Corvinone is so similar to the more widespread Corvina variety that it has often been mistaken as a clone, but has more recently been identified through DNA profiling as a separate variety.[1] Its looser, winged pyramidal bunches of larger grapes make it suitable for drying.
