The Country Music Association Awards is a major awards show in country music. Originally presented in 1988 as the Vocal Event of the Year Award, the Musical Event of the Year honor received its current name in 2004. The award recognizes a collaboration of two or more people, either or all of whom are known primarily as country artists.[1]
Recipients
Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, who won for their song "Don't You Wanna Stay", both have two additional nominations in this category.
One of three wins by Alison Krauss was in 2008 with Robert Plant who is, to date, the only non-American winner of the award.
Husband and wife duo Tim McGraw and Faith Hill hold the record for most collaborations, having been nominated together for this award six times, winning once in 1997.
Inaugural recipients Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris won for their iconic Trio album. Parton also has two additional wins in the category.
