Andrew Ahyim Aplin (born March 21, 1991) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Houston Astros' Minor League Baseball organization. Prior to playing professionally, he attended Arizona State University, where he played college baseball for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Aplin was born Suisun City, California,[1] but lived in the Phoenix metropolitan area in the mid-1990s. When he was six, his family moved back to California.[2] Aplin attended Vanden High School in Fairfield, California. After graduating, the New York Yankees selected Aplin in the 33rd round of the 2009 MLB draft.[3] He did not sign, and instead enrolled at Arizona State University in order to play college baseball for the Arizona State Sun Devils baseball team.[2]
The Houston Astros selected Aplin in the fifth round, with the 159th overall selection, of the 2012 MLB draft.[1][3] He signed quickly, and made his professional debut for the Tri-City ValleyCats of the Class A-Short Season New York–Pennsylvania League.[4]
In 2013, Aplin played for the Lancaster JetHawks of the Class A-Advanced California League.[1] Aplin began the 2014 season with the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League.[2] At the trade deadline, the Astros traded outfielder Austin Wates to the Miami Marlins, and promoted Aplin to the Class AAA Pacific Coast League to replace him.[1] The Astros added him to their 40-man roster after the 2015 season.[5]

Akeem Maurice Bostick (born May 4, 1995) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros' organization.
Bostick attended West Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina. Bostick played for the school's baseball team, and was their ace pitcher. In his senior year, Bostick had a 9-0 win–loss record and a 0.68 earned run average (ERA) with 84 strikeouts in 51 innings pitched.[6]
Bostick committed to attend Georgia Southern College, where he would play baseball and American football. The Texas Rangers selected Bostick in the second round of the 2013 MLB draft.[7][8] He signed with the Rangers rather than attend college,[9] reportedly receiving a $520,620 signing bonus. The Rangers assigned him to the Arizona Rangers of the Rookie-level Arizona League.[10]
In 2014, Bostick pitched for the Hickory Crawdads of the Class A South Atlantic League. He had a 5.17 ERA. After the 2014 season, the Rangers traded Bostick to the Houston Astros for Carlos Corporán.[11]
His cousin, Brandon Bostick, plays in the National Football League.[12]

Jonathan Gregory Davis (born April 27, 1993) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Houston Astros organization.
Davis was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the fifth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft out of Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove, California.[13] He did not sign and attended California State University, Fullerton, where he played from 2012 to 2014. Davis played first base and was also a pitcher. In his three years he hit, .307/.394/.461 with 14 home runs and 113 runs batted in (RBI) in 156 games. As a pitcher he had a 3.00 earned run average (ERA) and 11 saves.
After his junior season, Davis was drafted by the Houston Astros in the third round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft.[14] He signed with the Astros and made his professional debut with the Tri-City ValleyCats.[15][16] After hitting .293 with a .878 on-base plus slugging (OPS) in 30 games, he was promoted to the Quad Cities River Bandits.[17][18]

Jandel Francisco Gustave (born October 12, 1992) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros organization.
Gustave played for the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Class A Midwest League in 2014.[19] After the season, the Boston Red Sox selected Gustave from the Astros in the 2014 Rule 5 draft, and traded him to the Kansas City Royals.[20] During spring training in 2015, the Royals placed Gustave on waivers,[21] and he was claimed by the San Diego Padres.[22] The Padres then returned Gustave to the Astros before the start of the regular season.[23] Gustave pitched for the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League in 2015, and was named a postseason All-Star.[24] The Astros added him to their 40-man roster after the season.[5]

Teoscar Hernández (born October 15, 1992) is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder in the Houston Astros organization.
Hernández signed with the Houston Astros as an international free agent in February 2011.[25] He made his professional debut that season for the Dominican Summer League Astros. Hernández played 2012 with the Gulf Coast Astros and Lexington Legends and 2013 with the Quad Cities River Bandits.[26] He started 2014 with the Lancaster JetHawks and was promoted to the Corpus Christi Hooks during the season.[27] He hit 21 home runs and batted .292 with a .897 on-base plus slugging (OPS).

James Allen Hoyt (born September 30, 1986) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization.
Hoyt played college baseball at Palomar College before transferring to the Centenary College of Louisiana. In 2011, he signed with the Yuma Scorpions of the North American League (NABL) after a tryout with the team.[28] Hoyt spent 2012, pitching for three different teams in three different leagues. After the Scorpions folded, he went on to pitch for the Edinburg Roadrunners of the NABL. He then played for the Wichita Wingnuts of the American Association and the Olmecas de Tabasco of the Mexican League. While pitching for Tabasco, Hoyt impressed Atlanta Braves scouts and they signed him to a minor league deal.[29][30]
Hoyt started his career in the Braves organization with the Lynchburg Hillcats. He was later promoted to the Double-A Mississippi Braves. Hoyt started 2014 back with Mississippi and in June he was promoted to the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves. On January 14, 2015, Hoyt along with Evan Gattis was traded to the Houston Astros for Rio Ruiz, Andrew Thurman and Michael Foltynewicz.[31]

Kemmer played college baseball at Allegany College of Maryland in 2010 and 2011, Clarion University in 2012 and Brewton–Parker College in 2013. He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 21st round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft.[32] He signed with the Astros and made his professional debut with the Tri-City ValleyCats. In 2014 he played for the Quad Cities River Bandits and Lancaster JetHawks.[33] He played 2015 for the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks.[34][35]

Francis Euclides Suazo Martes (born November 24, 1995) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization.
Martes was signed by the Miami Marlins as an international free agent in November 2012. He made his professional debut in 2013 with the Dominican Summer League Marlins. On July 31, 2014, Martes along with Colin Moran and Jake Marisnick was traded from the Marlins to the Houston Astros for Jarred Cosart, Enrique Hernández and Austin Wates.[36][37] Martes started 2015 with the Quad Cities River Bandits.[38][39] He was later that season promoted to the Lancaster JetHawks and Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks.[40]

Brendan McCurry (born January 7, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization.
McCurry played college baseball at Howard College and Oklahoma State University. McCurry was an infielder at Howard before transitioning into a pitcher at Oklahoma State.[41] At Oklahoma State he set a school record with 27 career saves.[42]
McCurry was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 22nd round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. During his first professional season, he spent time with the Arizona League Athletics, Beloit Snappers and Stockton Ports. He spent 2015 with Stockton and the Midland RockHounds.[43][44]
On November 25, 2015, McCurry was traded from the Athletics to the Houston Astros for Jed Lowrie.

Joseph Anthony Musgrove (born December 4, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization.
Musgrove was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft out of Grossmont High School in El Cajon, California.[45] He made his professional debut that year with the Gulf Coast Blue Jays and also pitched in one game for the Bluefield Blue Jays. He started 2012 with Bluefield. On July 20, 2012, Musgrove was traded from the Blue Jays to the Houston Astros with Francisco Cordero, Ben Francisco, Asher Wojciechowski, David Rollins, and Carlos Pérez, in exchange for J. A. Happ, Brandon Lyon, and David Carpenter.[46]
Musgrove started his Astros career with the Greeneville Astros. He spent 2013 with the Gulf Coast Astros and 2014 with the Tri-City ValleyCats.[47][48] Musgrove started 2015 with the Quad Cities River Bandits and was promoted to the Lancaster JetHawks.[49] The Astros added him to their 40-man roster after the season.[5]

Paulino was signed by the Detroit Tigers as an international free agent in 2010. He made his professional debut in 2011 with the Dominican Summer League Tigers and spent 2012 and 2013 with the Gulf Coast Tigers. In 2013 he underwent Tommy John surgery which caused him to miss the 2014 season.[50] On September 13, 2013, Paulino was acquired by the Houston Astros as a player to be named later in an earlier trade for José Veras.[51] Paulino made his debut in the Astros organization in 2015 with the Tri-City ValleyCats and also played for the Quad Cities River Bandits and Lancaster JetHawks.[40] The Astros added him to their 40-man roster after the season.[5]

Peña attended Eloisa Pascual High School in Caguas, Puerto Rico. The Astros selected him in the seventh round of the 2010 MLB draft.[52] While playing for the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Class A Midwest League in 2013, Peña won a Gold Glove Award as the best defensive catcher in Minor League Baseball.[53] The next year, he played for the Lancaster JetHawks of the Class A-Advanced California League, finishing the season with a .249 batting average.[52]

Brady Paul Rodgers (born September 17, 1990) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization.
Rodgers was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 39th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft out of Lamar Consolidated High School in Rosenberg, Texas.[54] He did not sign and played college baseball at Arizona State University. He ended his career with a 2.39 earned run average (ERA) which was the second lowest in school history behind Floyd Bannister.[55] He was then drafted by the Houston Astros in the third round of the 2012 MLB draft.[56][57] He made his professional debut with the Tri-City ValleyCats. He pitched most of 2013 with the Lancaster JetHawks but also made one start for the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks and Triple-A Oklahoma City RedHawks. Rodgers spent 2014 with Corpus Christi and made one start with Oklahoma City. In 2015 he played for the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies.

Kyle Thomas Smith (born September 10, 1992) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization.
Smith was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the fourth round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft out of Santaluces Community High School in Lantana, Florida.[58][59] He made his professional debut in 2012 with the Idaho Falls Chukars and also played for the Kane County Cougars that season.[60] Smith started 2013 with the Wilmington Blue Rocks. On July 31, 2013, he was traded to the Houston Astros for Justin Maxwell.[61][62] The Astros assigned him to the Lancaster JetHawks to finish the season. Smith started 2014 back with Lancaster and was promoted to the Double-A Corpus Christi Hooks in May.[63] A 2014 Texas League All-Star, Smith underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2015.[64]

Danry Josue Vasquez Blanco (born January 8, 1994) is a Venezuelan professional baseball outfielder in the Houston Astros' organization.
In 2010, the Detroit Tigers signed Vasquez as an international free agent, giving him a $1.2 million signing bonus.[65] Vasquez began the 2012 season with the West Michigan Whitecaps of the Class A Midwest League, but he struggled and was demoted to the Connecticut Tigers of the Class A-Short Season New York–Penn League.[66]
After weighing 171 pounds (78 kg), Vasquez gained 12 pounds (5.4 kg) during the 2012–13 offseason. He began the 2013 season with West Michigan, where he had a .281 batting average with five home runs and 39 runs batted in.[66] In July 2013, the Tigers traded Vasquez and a player to be named later (David Paulino) to the Houston Astros for José Veras.[67][68] The Astros assigned Vasquez to the Quad Cities River Bandits of the Midwest League.[69][70] In 2014, Vasquez played for the Lancaster JetHawks of the Class A-Advanced California League.[71]
