Donovan Wisse (born February 21, 1997) is a Surinamese kickboxer currently signed with Glory, where he is the incumbent Glory Middleweight Champion.[3]

As of September 2021, he is ranked the #1 middleweight in the world by Combat Press.[4] He's been ranked in the top ten since June 2019.[5]

Kickboxing career

Early career

Wisse fought Rodrigo da Paixao at the Gala Fearless. Donovan won the fight by a first round KO.[6]

In May 2018 Wisse fought Muhammed Balli.[7] Donovan knocked Balli out in the first round.[8]

Glory

His debut with Glory came during Glory 59, against Kevin Van Heeckeren. Wisse won the fight by decision.[9]

He suffered the first professional loss of his career in his second Glory appearance, losing a split decision to Ertugrul Bayrak.[10]

Wisse's third fight with Glory was against Matěj Peňáz.[11] He beat Peňáz by knockout in the second round.[12]

His next fight was against Yousri Belgaroui, scheduled for Glory 65.[13] Wisse won the fight by a unanimous decision.[14]

He was scheduled to fight Jason Wilnis during Glory 70.[15][16] Wisse won the fight by unanimous decision.[17]

Wisse was scheduled to fight César Almeida during Glory Collision 2.[18][19] He won the fight by a majority decision.[20]

Glory Middleweight champion

Wisse was scheduled to fight Yousri Belgaroui at Glory 78: Arnhem for the vacant Glory Middleweight Championship.[21][22] He won the fight by a third-round technical knockout. A knee strike landed by Wisse opened a cut on Belgaroui's forehead, which forced the ringside doctor to stop the fight.[23]

Wisse made his first Glory Middleweight title defense against the promotional newcomer Juri De Sousa at Glory 81: Ben Saddik vs. Adegbuy 2 on August 20, 2022.[24]
